Mr. Jack Perk, of they Goshen
Line, north, has purchased the
farm of the late James Ross, which
was sold by auction lase on Wed-
nesday last. The farm; is a nice
one with good buildings, a couple
of miles southwest of Hensall.
A Dispatch from Paric declares
that CCapt. Schweiger, the com-
mander of the German submarine
tha tsank the Lusitania, is dead
-killed by the crew of a Paragu-
ayan warship of which he was in.
command. It was reported first
that Schweiger had been captured
during the war and later that he
had died in a fit of insanity in
Germany. Neither report was
ever confirmed. The Paris disp-
atch says that he escaped to Par-
aguay and received the command
of a vesel in the little Paraguay
navy, and' that his harshness caus-
ed his crew: to mutiny.
SOUTH HURON' AGRICULTURAL
SOCIETY MEET
The annual meeting of the South
Huron Agricultural Society was
held in the CCommercial Hotel,
Hensall, on Friday afternoon, Jan.
20th. There was not as large an
attendance of members present
as usual, but it was the unanimous
decision of the meeting to hold
both a Seed and Spring Fair a-
gain this year. There are consid-
erable funds in the treasury and
it is the intention of the Direct-
ors to offer a prize list at the
spring stock show that will be
the most liberal in the county, A
Government judge will be secured
for the Seed Show, who will also
give an address, and this feature
alone should be' of great 'interest
tot he fartn!ers of the community.
