The regular W. C. T. U. meeting which was held in the Ladies' Hall last Wednesday evening June 15 was opened with Devotional ex- ercises led by Mrs. Lydia Geiger. The topi efor the evening was Systematic Giving. Miss Olive, O'Brien and Elizabeth Rennie each gave a reading on the topic. The president then took charge of the meeting and considerable amount of business was done in making ar- rangements for the County W. C. T. U. convention which' is to be held in the Evangelical church on July 14 :and 15th. • A chemical fire extinguishing de monstration will be given in Zur- ihe on Wednesday evening. It is the purpose to show the public the difference between the old steel tank system, in so many horn es, and the new chemicals that are kept in a small bottle. People should avail themselves of this demonstration and should have their homes equipped with such fire fighting apparatus, so as to catch the fire in its infancy. Mr. George Lilley, of Seaforth,. has been appointed general agent for this district. Q I The Annual Meeting of th'e Hur on County Breeder's Association was held in the Town Hall, Win- gham on Saturday, June 18th. A- bout fifty were present including members and those interested in the breeding of pure bred live stock. Pro. G, E. Day, Secretary of the Dominion Shorthorn Breed ers Association was present and gave an address on the outlook and prospects for the Pure Bred Live Stock industry of Canada. • Following this the annual mee ing of the Association was held and the eleetb:r of officers resulted as follows ;-Pres.
