May 24th 'vas celebrated in Zur-
ich by possibly the largest crowd';
of people that we have ever seen
on such an occasion. in the aft-
ernoon the crowd was equal to a
Fall Flair, and the nice warm wea-
ther
ea-ther was very welcome to the
spectators to 'witness the sports
from 2 to 4 o'clock, when every
body was anxiously wvaitin to
see the opening of the N. W. B.;
eLague game 'between the ' home
team and Crediton.. Although it
being the first game of the sea --I
son, of importance, some very
fine ball playing was demonstr-
ated. The Zurich battery, Ohl-,
ert and Henning kept the heavy,
hitting Crediton team constantly
at a Loss as to what was coming,,;
And we have reasons to feel proud
of these two boys, as without a
doubt, they are the strongest bat-;
tery in this groupe. What looked
like the best field catch was made'
by Mr. L. Callfas of the home team `
in the second last inning, while
running at hill speed in a cross,
direction of the ball, he picked it
out of the air nonsiderably above
his bead, and as there were two
men out and the bases full, it was
a sensational play at the right
time. The attendance, as. usual,
was not so large in the morning
game., hut the sports after dinner
were well cotnpeted and the fol-
lowing were the winners of same.
