The Presbytertrtan Synod of Hamilton and London at its ses- sion in Chatham last week elect- ed as Moderator, Rev. S. A. Car- riere of Grand Bend. The ratepayers of Goderich ap- proved the action of the Town. Council in guaranteeing the bond' of the National Shipbuilding Co!t to the extent of $50,000 when 'they carried the by-law 'before them on Monday, the vote being ' 577 for and 157 against. Some $25,- 000 of this money will come back to the town for payment of back taxes, interest and other indebt- edness. SPORT NEWS Last Thursday evening sports- men of Crediton and Goderich ewe- re e-re in Zurich with intentions of drawing up a schedule and group- ing this district for the coming summer's baseball season. But as representatives of some of the towns who intend to enter, were not present., the meeting was re -called at Seaforth on Tuesday evening, which several of aur ball fans attended Messrs, L. W. Hoffman and W. B. Colles repres- enting the Zurich team. e The schedule was being drawn up for the season with the following tea- ms in this grou'pe; Zurich, Cred- iton, Goderich,• Clinton and Strat- ford.
