A Village Park
The. Athletic Club of Zurich sp-
ent much time and practically all
its funds to build the skating rink
which now is a credit to the vil-
lage as *ell as a source of ple-
asure; Many of the village and
vicinity gave their hearty assist-
ance for which since they have felt
themseldbs well repaid; besides, it
is an indication that there is still
present. a progressive spirit the
lack of which is so sommon in small
rural communities. While there
is the proper spirit is the time to
be on the move and doing as long
as, it lasts.
Outside of individual efforts very
little has been done by the pub-
lic tck improve the appearance of
the 'village m general. Opposite
the Commercial Hotel is a lot
which, when first seen, leaves an
impression not easily got rid of,
namely, that it is a sure sign of
another country village going the
way of so many that are now no
more. This, fortunately, is not
the ease, but many desirable would
be citizens and business men are
deterred in spite of the fact.
Usually an eye -sore can be con-
verted into a beauty spot with
very little expense. If the major-
ity of citizens would get together
this lot could easily be levelled in
a.day and the top covered with
some fertile soil for the making of
two or three flower or ornamen-
tal plots and the planting of a few
shrubs and trees, A number of
discarded church benches, place 1
around the 'outside, would comp-
lete all that is necessary for a
little park which every villege sho-
uld hare,
