The Government franchise mea-
sure which is to supersede the war-
time election act, is as broad in
scope as democracy might well con
ceive or demand. Every British
citizen, male or female who is 21
years of age, has been in. Canada
for a year, and in a particular con
stituency for two months will
have (the right to vote in any fed-
eral contest.
The Alabama Christian Ad vo
cate puts the relation of money to
the Church very pertinently when
it says; "Go to church. They
talk about .money nearly every
,.time I go. Sure they talk about
money every time you board a
street car or take a train, but you
do not stay at home on that ac-
count. Pay your iare. Don't
be: a baby/. Bear your leirden.
Be a man. Go to church.”

On Tuesday the members of the
Lutheran church met at the old
graveyard adjoining the public
school pre.mihee, and with shovels.
axes, hoes and other implemeets
attacked the brush, undergrowth
and small. trees. The workers
were numerous and towards noon
much of the wilderness had been
laid low. When everything had
been cleared away, horses and
plows helped to turn over the
ground and in time it is proposed
to level it and keep it in grass. The
work done so far has made a de-
cided improvement in the appear-
ance of•that part of our village.
JOHN HENRY SCHNELL
PASSES(
In the passing of John Henry
Schnell another of Hay Town-
ship's old residents are. missed. Ile
was born in Schee ckb .ch, Germany,
and came to New Hamburg, Ont.
when a boy, after residing there
for sever. years came to Hay Town
ship and settled on Lot 08 con. 14,
until 13 years ago when he inc ed
to Zurich where he resided to the
time of his death which was caus-
ed by internal trouble; Dee -
eased had been ailing for several
months, and at times little hope
was entertained for his ''eco cry,
and he passed peacefully to sleep
on Wednesday morning, March 24,
at the age of 75 years, 6 months
and 10 days, He was twice mar-
ried his first wife pre -deceased
him 25 years ago. With this un-
ion they were blessed with ten
chiidren, of which six still survive.
They are as follows; David of Ab-
erdeen, Sask; Albert of Calgary,
Alt; Annie, of Aberdeen, Sask; Mrs,
A C Kalbfleisch of Detroit, Mich ;
Mrs. Mack of Harte, Man and Per
dinand of Mautia, Man. Also his
sorrowing widow he leaves to.
mourn his loss.
The late M. Schnell was well-
known in Hay Township, having
been a member of the Hay Connell
many years ago, and also acted
as tax collector for several years,
whereby he made friends with all
who, came in contact with him, with
his pleasant gentlemanly disposit-
ion.
The last remains were laid to
rest on Friday afternoon. 7•n-

HOT TEA
FOR A BAD COLD
Get a small package of Hamburg
Breast Tea at any pharmacy. Take a
tablespoonful of the tea, put a cup of
boiling water upon it, pour through a
sieve and drink a teacup full at any
time during the day or before retiring.
It is the most effective way to break a
cold and cure grip, as it opens the
pores of the skin, relieving congestion.
Also loosens the bowels, thus driving a
cold from the system.
Try it the next time you suffer from
a cold or the grip.. It is inexpensive
and entirely vegetable, therefore safe
and harmless.
