Judgment his been given by
His ollnor, Judge Lewis on an 'ap-
peal by Wm. Downs, of Grand
Bend, 'against a conviction by Mag
istrat:e Reid or having ligaor for
sale illegally. The case came
before Magistrate Reid last fall,
and Downs was fined $200 an:cl co
sts with one month in jail. Judge
Levis last week dismissed this
appeal with caste.
�Magi'strate Reid, Goderich, ga-
ve his decision on Tuesday last in
the iso -called export liquor cases,
in which tho defendants wore the
Carling Brewing Coeof London and
the Consolidated Export Co. of Win
dsor. In each case the defendant
was found guilty of an offence un-
der the Ontario Temperance Act in
having liquor in other than a pri-
vate dwelling. A fine of $200 and
coats wit; unposed in the case of
the Carling Co, and once of $100 and
costs in the ease of the Expor.tlf;`7r,
