That the Council adjourn to me- et again on September 19th at 8. p.m, to pass By-laws. James A. Peterson, Clerk ling Board. A definite step towards improvement of quality, he contin- + ued, was taken recently when the Ontario meat packers agreed to co- operate in grading hogs on the rat/. I am hoping that we may consider this as a forerunner of what we may expect in other farm products. The most effective educational work for the improvement of quality is done in my opinion, at the market -place. Handlers of farm products can do much towards improving quality, if they will buy accordingly to grade. Many farmers take pride in their cr- aft and invariably strive to produce the best. A large number, :however, will change their methods only when shown that it pays to do so. It is difficult to forsee any real improve- ment in quality, while the man pro - Ontario and the Grain Show Ontario will be well represented at the World's Grain Show in Regina, July 24 to Aug. 5, 1933, stated Hon. T. L. Kennedy, Minister of AgricuIt- ure, at a meeting of the Ontario Cox. mittee recently. He suggested that an active program be carried on this fall and winter to acquaint all grain and seed growers of the opportunit- ies of competitionat the first World's Grain Show and of assisting all ex- hibits to Regina. Prospective exhib- itors are advised to send 2 pounds representative samples to the Field Husbandry Department, 0.A.C. Gu- elph where they will be carefully ex- amined and suggestions made for the- ir improvement. Later all exhibits of seeds will be collected at Guelph and forwarded to Regina without trans- portation cost to the exhibitor from Guelph to Regina and return. Ontario Packers' Gesture •ls Step in Right Direction In the production of better quality products, the farmer requires the same incentive as those engaged in other lines of business, namely price, said J, A. Carroll, secy Ont. Market - Sweet Clover Ensilage The most suitable stage at which to ccut sweet clover for ensilage is when the majority of plants are in full bloom, writes E. S. Hopkins, Do- minion Field Husbandman, in his an- nual report for 1931. He also obser- ves: It is feasible to haul the crop to the silo immediately after cutting or within two or three hours, while the adition of water to sweet clover ensislage is not recommended. As is the case with oats -peas -vetch ensil- age, sweet clover held in storage for periods varying from three to nine months does not appear to sustain any damage or lose any of its palat- d.ucing an inferior produet is receir- i 1 ability. ~+ *++' *~ ing a price almost a high as the card ULL LINE OF HEAVY AND SHELF HARDWARE 'Weeki Crop Report ful farmer, who takes pains to turn • Dufferin County reports solve po- out a top grade article.
