turned with them from that city.
Harvest is progressing along nicely

on the bank of lake Huron, a little
south of St. Joseph.
The car driven by Mr. henry F.
Weseloh of Zurich, met with an ac-
cident while returning from Grand
Bend the other evening. Another
car hit Mr. Weseloh's car at a street
corner in Dashwood and both car:,
were damaged. Mrs. William Thiel,
an occupant of the car, was injured
on the leg and head when she was
thrown to the ground.
Mr. Wm. Hess of Pontiac; Mich.,
arrived in town Monday, he was ac-
companied by his three nephews,
Quimby, Paul and. Freddie Hess, the
three sons of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew
F. Hess of town-. The motor party
had a nice trip of over a week, com-
ing over by way of the Soo, and tak-
ing in so ankh of nature's scenery,
and the former Mr. ' Hess sure gave
these three bright young chaps
real outing. They stopped; off • #t
several places up in New Ontaricf and
found some real good fishing lakes.
HORSESHOE CONTEST
The horseshoe contest held in Zur-
ich on Saturday evening, was indeed
a real entertainment to those inter-
ested in this popular sport. The boys
on both sides played some real good
games, and the visitors, from Staffa
put up a good game, although they
carne out at the short eni.r of the
score which totallled Staffa 472, Zur-
ich 618. Following is the score of

Perfect weather, a fast track, tho-

High Constable Whiteside is
Moved to Waterloo
The announcment of the transfer
of Provincial Constable Albert White -
sides from Goderich to Waterloo, af-
ter nearly 30 years continuous serv-
ice as police officer, is a news item of
prime interest in Huron County,
where few men are better known.
for he has been connected with pra-
ctically every crime investigation ov-
er a lona' period. At the age of 25
he entered police work at Hensel',
and his subsequent appointment as
high constable took him to all parts
of the county. In 1920 he was ap-
pointed provincial constable, and in
1925 he took up residence in Goder-
ich. His career as an offices' has been
sharked by enthusiasm for his work.
