Messrs Lloyd Eidt and Edward
Kinsman of the Bank of Montreal
staff spent the week -end at their
homes at Ingersoll and St. Marys re-
spectively.
The nice and warm weather the
past week certainly has brought a-
long an abundance of growth, a nice
shower of rain would also help mat-
erially. Grass and fall wheat look
exceptionally well, and the summer
crops are corning along nicely too.
Rev. Waldemar Williams, M. A.,
of one of the city churches of the
United Church of Canada, conducted
the Anniversary Services in. the Hen -
salt United Church on Sunday, and
spent the afternoon with his cousin,
Mrs. C. L. Smith of town.
May 24th, Empire Day on Tuesday
passed of very quietly in town, as
most of the people were out some-
where else enjoying the day, as the
weatherman gave us ideal 'weather
just warm enough to be nice. Some
citizens were at the lake fishing with
little success, others spent the day at
their summer homes, some at Mit-
chell, London and other points.
Mr. A. 0. Elliott, of Exeter, the
Ford dealer of this district demon-
strated a fine new coupe in town on
Monday. Mr, Elliot advised us that
this was the new car for Rev. W. Y.
Drier of Milverton and formeriy of
Zurich. Mr. Dreier making the deal
through Mr. L. A. Prang & Son, of

A number of our sportsmen have
been recently at the lake trying their
luck at perch fishing, and a' few good
hauls have been made at Grand Bend
But .around these parts very few
have been caught with the line and
hook. The net .fishing at St. Joseph
has not been too good as the boys
are working with a new style of nets

Justice Kelly, in Supreme Court, Mrs.
Jean L. Lewis, widow of Norman
Lewis, Goderich, killed in a manhole.

sumers' Gas Company of Toronto,the

on behalf of Mrs: Lewis. The settle-
ment for $8,000 is in full of all cla-
ims, including costs, the judgment
