SOME GOOD ADVICE
There is a newspaper in Kansas
the editor of which is openly advis-
ing readers to He, steal, drink and
swear. He- thus explains his stand:
"When you Re, let it be down to
pleasant dreams; when you steal, let
it be away from immoral associates;
when you swear, let it be that you
will support your home paper, pay
your subscription and not send your
job work away from home.
COMMITTED FOR TRIAL
Clark Wilson and Wm. Fisher, two
youths of Komoka, charged with the
theft of a couple of threshing mach-
ine belts, the property of Edward
Pollen of Usborne Tp., were commit-
ted for trial last week by Magistrate
Andrews of Clinton, sitting in Police
Court at Exeter. They appeared be-
fore Judge Costello Tuesday and el-
ected speedy trial, and the case was
set for Wednesday, March 23rd, at
2 p.m. Mr. Frank Donelly is defend-
ing the accused.
CHECK MOTORISTS
AT ELGINFIELD
The Ontario Department of High-
ways
ighways have asked co-operation of the
traffic department of provincial police
in waging war on negligent motor-
ists at Elginfield "death corner," two
miles east of Lucan. This corner has
been the scene of a growing number
of fatal and serious accidents during
the past two years, and highway offi-
cials charge that stop sign regulat-
ions and other traffic laws have been
greatly disregarded at this dangerous
intersection. Provincial police have
agreed to concentrate their efforts on
this cosier, and all laws covering
breach of stop laws will be rigidly
enforced.

Weekly Crop Report
Alfalfa and clover crops are re-
ported as badly damaged from heav-
ing in some districts. The recent cold
spell put a stop to seeding operat-
ions which had been started in some
districts. Bruce County reports that
most farmers are either getting seed
cleaned or arranging o have it clean-
ed and that county has sufficient for
all needs for practically all classes of
crops. Potatoes have been selling
at 85c a bag in Middlesex'. Feld mice
were busy on the farm of 3. Iiddo
Inglewood, Peel County, and severely
girded over 100 20 -year old Spy and
Baldwin trees. The orchard was held
in a sod mulch which harbored hun-
reds of these pests. Arsenate of lime
mixed with corn meal proved an eff-
ective poison bait when spread in cir-
cle around the base of the tree.
Buy Quality Seed
As never before in the history of
farming should care be exercised in
the purchase of seeds for planting
this spring. Is the advice of one
well-known authority, who adds that
it is doubly important to make sure
that purchases have been government
tested as a result of last year's dro-
ught and the reduced supply of high
quality stock. He warns against buy-
ing bargain seeds where price alone
is the only description given, because
of
reliable seedsmen do not approve
advertisements where seedsmen do
not approve of advertisements where
seeds are offered at stipulated prices
without any indicatioin as to them
quality or origin, .-4s11
Demand For Asparagus •
Froin information gathered by
the Ontario Grogers, Market Coign-
cil, a strong demand by the canners
asparagus is anticipated. It is
.iderstood that the market for can-
ned asparagus has shown a steady expansion with the result that an in-
crease in the pack is to be looked for
The Council is of the opinion that 13
:ants per pound will constitute a fair
;ice for the 1932.crop. Various can -
ling companies .are now endeavoring
to si•c+ui=e contracts but no effort
