A marriage license was taken out
last Saturday at the municipal offices
by a widower 78, who on Tuesday
of this week married a widow 79.
They are residents in a township

True to election promises, Goder-
ieh and Colborne Township councils
have reduced salaries of all municip-
al officers. There is every indication
that the subject of salary reductions
will again be very much to the fore
in the County Council, which •meets
this Tuesday.

Harry Livens, a former resident of
Seaforth, and for a number of years
organist of First Presbyterian Cla-
urch, received the appointment as
organist and musical director of Knox
Presbyterian Church, Goderich. He
goes to Goderich from Mitchell, wh-
ere he has been organist in Main
Street United Church for a number
of years.
The annual meeting of • the Exeter
Agricultural Society was held in the
Town Hall, on Tuesday afternoon,
last, with a good attendance. Reeve
B. M. 'Francis occupied the chair.The
auditor's report showed that the fair
year had been a decided success fin-
ancially, the debt of the Socieity
having been reduced by $400.00.
The Annual Meeting of the Bay-
#field Public Library .Association was
held in the Library Room on Monday
last, `The different reports showed
that the year had been. very suceese
slain. The total circulation for the
,year was 3206. The number of bo-
oks xn circulation is 1622. 59 new
hooks were added during the past ye-
ar. about half of which were non-
fiction,
The Goderich Agricultural Society
is in a flourishing condition and looks
to the future with optimism and con-
fidence. At the annual meeting held
in the town hall, it wase reported
that the society now boasts of a re-
cord membership, that the amount
of money paid out inaprizes attained
a new high mark in. 1931 and that
during the twelve months just closed
a deficit of $4&6 had been cut to
$217, despite the fact that fair day
last year was rainy and gate aced -
pts .were Own.
The death took place on Friday
January 8th, of Hannah Batrala reLcx,
of the late John Shine, in her 82nd.

year, following an attack of bronch-
ial pneumonia: Mrs. Shine was born
in Scarboro Township and came with
her parents to Hibbert where she
lived until her marriage. 42 years ago.
They afterwards moved to Seafortb
where Mr. Shine died about 16 years
ago. Mrs. Shine was a devoted mem-
ber of St. James' Church.
