The Ontario Provincial police are
to make a drive against motorists
who neglect to clean the windshields
of their cars and keep their licenses
markers free from dirt. Instructions
have been received by traffic officer
who patrol highways to warn drivers
that this provision of the Ontario
Traffic Act must be complied with.
The Federal Parliament is to meet
February 4th. Ottawa despatches say

Fiftieth Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Howald qui-
etly celebrated their fiftieth wedding
anniversary on Sunday, December
27th. Fifty years ago Miss Louise
Elsie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Elsie, of Zurich was united
marriage to Mr. Jacob Howald,
son of Mr. U. Howald of McKillop
Township. The ceremony was per-
formed by the Rev. Minsinger,. of
Zurich and the bridesmaids were:
Miss Elizabeth Elsie and Miss Leah
Dorstein, while the groom was at-
tended by Mr. Henry Thiel and Mr.
Jim Moore.
After their marriage they resided
on the 14th concession of Hay, then
at Zurich, Stratford, Kitchener, and
removing to Zurich again twelve ye-
ars ago. During their marriage they
were blessed with nine children, two
childred having died: , Mrs. Louise
Hutchinson and Mrs. Olga Miller.
The surviving children are:
Mrs. Samuel : Lennifx' of Saskatch-
ewan;: Mr. Henry Howald of Zurich;
Mrs..�Oscar .Miller of 'K'itchener; Mr.
Herbert Howald, Owen ,:Sound; Mrs.
Kathryn Barry : of New York; Mr.
Theo, Howalda of Kitchdiier and Mrs.
Ada Yearion of Detroit. They have
twenty-four grandchildren and one
great -grand -child. Mr. and , Mrs.
Howald have been the • recipients of
many beautiful gifts from their
family.
