hymn 267 after Which Mary Johnston.,
led in prayer. We again sang 'hymn
498 and the scripture lesson ' was
taken from Isiah'- 35':: The minutes
were taken after which they were
read and adopted. The roll was called
and the topic given by Mrs. R. N.
Douglas. The business was taken.
We sang hymn 390 •and closed with
the Lord's Prayer.

Seaforth hospital Sunday last for an
operation for appendicitis. Her many
;friends; hope for a. speedy recovery.

T. C. Joynt is selling his stock of
lrygoods preparatory to making ex-
tensive alterations to his store and
to modernize it into what is termed
the Open Display System of modern
stores,.
The death occurred iia Hensall on
Saturday last of one of its well
known aged residents in 'the person
of John .IVIcD. Wilson, aged 75 years.
He was born in Blanchard and when
a young man he .moved to the Town-
ship of. Hay, where he carried en
farming successfully and then he and
Mrs. Wilson moved to Hensell in 1917
Some years ago their home on Ox-
ford street was burned and Mr. Wil-
son was severely burned. He had not
been in good health since and this
last year had gradually weakened till
he finally passed away. Besides his
widow, who is his second wife, he
leaves to mourn his loss, two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Win. Beck, of Yonkers, N.
Y., and Mrs. Ro F. White, of London
His only son, Lieut., William Bell
Wilson, was killed in the Great War.
The funeral took place on Monday
last, interment ire Fansville cemetery,
which is situated on the corner of the
old farm. Rev. Arthur Sinclair had
charge of the services.

Walter Statton of Grand Bend,
has a hard maple tree in his lawn
which is coming out in leaf.
Mrs. Wm. H. Elliott, a pioneer of
the Lucan district, died at hex home
near Lucan on Sunday in her 84th
year. She had been ill the past two
weeks.,
John McKenzle, who has operated
the Princess Theatre, Seaforth, for
20 years, announces that the theatre
will permanently close on Saturday,
November 28th_
Ten men left Goderich last Monday
for Gelert, in the Haliburton district
where they will be engaged in road
construction work under the Govern-
ment plan for relief of unemploym-
ent.. Only one of the 'ten was mar-
ried. At Stratford they joined a large
contingent going from that city.
Jno. Mousseau, Grand Bend, pick-
ed eleven quart basket of nice blue
plums off a tre last `week, a Large
branch of which loaded with plums
was seen by many in Holt's store
window- Mrs. Joe Oliver also picked
•a handful of ripe raspberries andl re-•
ports many green ones on the bran-
ches. This sure is an ideal spot in
which to live. So. why go South?
Deputy Reeve J. J. Moser, Geder-
ich suffered a painful accident the
other day, he was putting a new roof
on his buildiing, and as he was work-
ing on the verandah roof when he
losat his footing and fell to the ce
ment platform below, breanxng his
right arm between the shoulder and
elbow and also injuring his leg.
John Ridley, of Winchelsee,, and;
Eldon Kading, of Exeter, both have
broken arins, from a similar cause,
namely the backfiring of motors
while they were cranking them_
W. Mutch, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred', Mutch of Clinton, is laid up
with a severe injury to his leg. A
heavy oil tank, which he had gone
to Bayfield to take back to Clinton,
slipped over on him.
The death of John Whiteman at his
(home in Kippen on Nov. 10th, re-
mbved one of the oldest residents of
Huron' County.. He was in his SSLIt
year and has been a resident of this'
county for 82 years, his birthplace
l being iii- Nassagawaya Tp. His funer-
al took place on Nov. 12th, which
I day was the 65th anniversary of his
'marriage. His wife predeceased him
nine years. Three sons and three da-
ughters survive
Tenn Taday morning the barn of
G. Bisback, on the Bayfield road
just south of Clinton, was destroyed
by fire, which also destroyed all his
season's crop of grain and hay. Foor-
tunately; no stock was in the barn,
except a span of horses which he was
at the time getting ready for the atnor
nin•'s: work. But the fire spread so
rapidly that nothing could be done to
save i4t •
A meeting of the board of direct-
ors of .the Goderich Agricultural So-
ciety wan Iteld last Tuesday eve to
wind up the business of the year.
The treasurer's statement showed
that, with all expenses and prizes pd.
the Society would Have an indebted-
ness of $267 to carry forward. There
was a deficit of $508 from last year,
but a grant of $500 from the Provin-
cial. Govetznent's fall fair insuranc,
fund practically covered this, and the

Friday, Nov 13th was both an un-
lucky and a lucky day for four Ex-
