The heavy traffic on the Blue Water
Highway, especially between Grand
Bend and Goderich, calls for a bet-
ter road surface. The municipalities
along the highway should get eogeth-
er and present their case to the co-
unty council, with a view to some
betterment of the road next season.

Mr. Elmer Willert of the 14th con-
cession, Hay, purchased a ninety acre
tract' of land in the Pinery from the
Beaman Estate, it being on the east
side of the road 114 mile south of
Grand Bend. There is on the pro-
perty some rather valuable pine tim-
ber, and several acres are cleared
and cu narrated.

ich Branch of the Women's Institute

a good attendance. Mrs. S. Witmer
was in the chair. The meeting op-
ened by singing the Institute Ode, fol
lowed by the Lord's Prayer. A piano
solo by Mrs. H. Hess. Following in-
troduction of new song books,- a num
ber of new songs were sung. It was
decided that the Institute would
make a name quilt and that every
member hand in their names at the
October meeting. The meeting clos-
ed by singing the National Anthem.
