Last Thuhsday evening a very in- teresting euchre challenge party was enjoyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mich. Hoffman of town, -when the most interesting game was a challen- ge of Mr. Hoffman with S. Deitz as partner against Mr. A. Mittieholtz of Kitchener and Mrs. Hoffman as part- ner. After the whole transaction ,vas over, and the eoints counted up it proved a complete whitewash for the two former mentioned, as they, did not even get as much as one count, and needless to say that the laurels went to Kitchener. Mr. Wm. C. Wagner of - town and sister, Mrs. D. J. McLinchey of De- troit, also Mr. and Mrs..,Cook; of Windsor, have just returned from a delightful motor trip which lancluriced Niagara Falls, Hamilton, Guelph, Kit- chener and a tour through the Cale - don Mountains., •One • of the beauti- ful' spots' eriabutee'was 7C. On Thursday evening, August 13th Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clausius of the Blind Line were very pleasantly sur- prised when their friends and form- er neighbors of the Bronson Line with their families visited the Claus - ins home, and the following' families were present: Mr. Christ and Mose Erb, Roland Geiger, .• John Eckstein, A. A. Weber, Also Mr. Newell Geig- er and Arson Keller. The guests provided Ice cream and sweets of'all kinds in abundance. After lunch the evening was spent in singing and music of all kinds. It is now 'thir- teen years since these people were neighbors, and still there is lingering that admirable tie of friendship, and which shall never cease. Mr. and Mrs. Clausius most heartily , welcom- ed one and all on this occasion, .and expressed their wish that the party will soon call again. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Smith and daughter Mae, returned from their twelve day outing on Monday even• ing, and you publisher, just like any one else taking such a trip thinks a few good days of rest at home will again fit one up for work. But how- ever, we enjoyed the outing regard- less of the "hot time” the weather- man handed out, especially the :first week from the 5th to the 12th. Our trip this year was not in the wilds of Canada, but rather a quiet tour through part of four States of the Union, which took in such places of note as P. Huron,e Detrog, Coledo, the busy city of Cleveland, and wend- ing out way on to Chautauqua, N.Y. c where we stayed over three days and among other good things we heard at,,e aectelae and pictures of Ad- miral Richard Byrd, who explored both the north and south pole by aeroplane, Chautauqua, is about fourteen miles in front lake Erie itha lies abeeat one thousand feet hi, her -titan lake Erie. The assembly griitinds adjoin the beautiful lake Chautauqua which affords good . boating, fishing and bathing. Leaving there we spent, a night above Niagara Falls thunder- E ous roar, as our tent was .overlook- ing the falls, and.had another good b view of the beautiful colored lights i that illuminate this monster se; at- v tractive each evening Thinking the t weather more suitable farther north s in this warm summer weather; ;ewe spent the last four days on'Kesas:ach e Beach Lake Simeoe, where the 'Au- ate was more suitable.
