Clinic for Crippled Children -
Last year, a clinic was held for
Crippled Children at the Hospital in
Goderich. The Clinic was presided
over by .the Chief Surgeon of the,
Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto
and 35 children were examined, a
number of whose received subsequent
treatment. The Lions Clubs took care
of the expenses for Hospital charges
surgeon and medical fees, and the
costs of the necessary appliances a-
mounting in the aggregiate to over
$1200. The rcult of the work done
by the Lions Clubs proved that their
undertaking was a very necessary one
several children who otherwise have
been lifelong cripples, were pernnan-
ntly cured, .others received lasting
benefit. With the encopragemc'nt of
the highly satisfactory results of the
:.'ork in 1980 the clubs have decided
to continue their Undertaking this
year, being confident that there are
still a. .number of crippled children in
the County of Huron who would be
{ benefitted by another clinic, at which

Goderich Trotting and Pacing As-
sociation held a meeting on Monday
evening last to perfect arrangements
for the bib civic holiday meet there
on Monday, August 3rd. There was
much enthusiasm over prospects for
the success of this, the biggest harn-
ess meet, ever attempted in Goderich.
C;o•uing on the heels of the grand cir-
cuit sheeting at Toronto, with only
four days intervening and no races
cheduled in that period, tthe Goder-
ich meet will attract the fastest hor-
,,es in Canada and the United States.
)here will be three races, all stake
events, with the purse of $1,000 in
each. This is the most ambitious off-
ering ever shade in any town, in Can-
ada.. For the free-for-all such well-
known performers as Bud Grattan,
Sid Hal, Raymond. Grattan, Alf Ab -
dell and Great Heart are entered.
Seldom if ever has any race meet in
Canada had such a high-class field in
one race. All are of about equal spe-
ed and it will be difficult to pick ;.
winner. In the 2.20 class there are
sixteen entries. It is called the Gold-
en Gate Stake. Tlge Goderich Stake.
