This was the first cival action in Canada. arising out. of an airplane accident. Mrs. McGillivray sued for $10,000. Canada's New Governor General On Tuesday of last week Premier Bennett made the announcement that His Magesty, the King, had been graciously pleased to approve of the appointment of the Earl of Bessbor- ough, as Governor General of the Dominion of Canada. The new Gov- ernor General is an Irish peer and a member of one of the oldest and most prominent families in the Brit- ish Empire. He has net been train- ed in the diplomatic service, but is a lawyer, the first member of that prof- ession that has been appointed to the office of Governor General in Can- ada. In addition, he has large busin- ess interests in both the old country and abroad and is a . man of great wealth. The Earl, who is in. his fifty-first year, has had considerable experience in government, having be- en for three years a member of the London County Council, and for 8 years a member of the British Parlia- ment. High Court This Week History will be made in Huron county when the spring sittings of the Supreme Court of Ontario open at the Court House, Goderich on 'Tu- esday of this week at 1 o'clock. It will be the first trine in the history of Huron County that a- bank rob- bery charge has appeared on the criminal docket and it will also be the first time on which no cases have ap- peared on the cival list at a spring assizes. His Lordship Justice Mc- Evoy will preside at these sittings. and Uriah McFadden, K. C., of Sault Ste Marie, Ont.. a noted lawyer, will be the special Crown prosecutor when Gilford and. Harvey McNeil, brothers are placed on trial to answer charg- es of robbing, .while armed, the Bank of Nova Scotia, Brussels, on October 29th, 1930, carrying away the sum of $5,880.04. The accused were de- fended at their preliminary trial by D. E. Holmes, of Goderich and Camp- bell Grant Walkerton. The other criminal case is that of John Hallam, Grey Township; who is charged wit rape.
