mission men at Toronto to be costing
anywhere from 23 to 29 cents a pe-

in Alberta where there are hundreds
of toner of turkey, farmers have been
orl:ered and many of there have ac-
cepted the rawest price on record, $ 1
a head for their flocks, the birds run-
ning from 12 to 18 pounds each. This
price means 6 to 8 cents a pound.
Some 5,000 chickens had been taken
by the pool in Alberta and the farm-
ers received peacticaily nothing for
them. Some wheat is selling for 2
cents a bushel, barley and oats are
selling at 3 to 6 cents a bushel.
The death took place at the fam-
ily residence, London Road North,
on Friday, December 5th, of Lorrain
Ford, dearly beloved wife of John
Caldwell, aged 47 years 6 months,and
11 days. The deceased had been ail-
ing for several months but had been
confined to her bed for two weeks
only. A few weeks ago she was tak-
en to London Hospital where she re-
mained for a few weeks, but nothing
:ould be dory to improve her cond-
ition and she gradually grew weaker
Mrs. Caldwell was born on the 2nd,
Concession, Stephen Tp., where her
early life was spent. Following her
marriage to Mr. Caldwell, they spent
a number of years in the West at
Lawson, Sask., returning they lived
for some tiro in Hensall and for the

You Can't Beat Huron!
Some time ago the Fergus News -
Record contained the following: T.
Halls, of Lot IS, brought to this office
a huge wasps' nest which stood 14
inches high and measured an exact
2 feet 7 inches around the centre.
This was considered such an unusual
size for a wasps' nest that the item
was copied by several papers. As
wasps' nests go, that was a fair size
of course, but it doesen't begin to
match the kind the Huron County
can produce. Last week W. E. Hin-
chley, of Seaforth, brought into the
Expositor Office a wasps' nest he cut
off` a bush five miles from Seaforth
that tops the Fergus one. This one
stood 17 inches high; measured 3
feet 4 inches round the centre and 3
feet 8 inches round the long way.
You can's beat Huron, not even in
wasps; nests.

In county Police Court at Wing -
ham Mrs. Robt. Henderson of that
town was convicted of creating a dis-
turbance in a place of worship, na-
mely, the Anglican church, the act
consisted of sticking out her tongue
at the rector. She was given sus-
pended sentence for one year. Miss
Gladys Newell was tried in the same
court for assault, she had pulled a
handful of hair out of the head of
another girl during an altercteion in
,.ire Wingham postoffice, the hair was
produced in court as an exhibit. On
December 5th an Ethel man was
fined $10 and costs for B. L. C. A.
and a, Chinaman in Wingham was fin-
ed the same sum for selling cigarettes
to minors. The charge of driving
without proper markers against Colin
Campbell of Zurich was dismissed.
His markers had fallen from the
front of his auto and he was carry-
ing them in his car when he passed
an eagle-eyed traffic officer, who not-
ed the missing markers and secured)
the number from the rear plate.
