on Sunday last of Geo. Windsor, for
over twenty years an esteemed resi-
dent of Exeter. He was ill with pne-

81'st year and born in McGillivray
Tp., and before coming to Exeter
was in business in Clandeboyee For
a number of years he represented
Harvey Bros. Milling Co., as travel-
ing salesman.

Thursday, November 27th, rounded
out his 83rd year. To fittingly hon-

A very happy event and one which
but few are privileged to celebrate,
occurred at the home of Mr. and
Mrs, henry Taylor, in Seaforth, on
Monday last, alien this worthy pion-
eer couple celebrated the 50th anrcivl
r rsary of their marriage. To mark
the auspicious event, a family dinner
was held at the home at which •all the

narrow escape last week when the sl+e
eve of his coat got caught in the fly
wheel. of the gasoline engine on their
scow which they were taking out of
the river for the winter. The prompt
action of Lloyd Manure pulled him_
away and saved a more serious acci-
dent. It severely tore the regiments
and muscles of his arm and shoulder.
One of the most disastrous,fives in
recent years in Auburn, occurred on
Friday morning last; at ,about 2 o" -
clock, when the hardware store of

that despite the efforts of the Auburn

Four merchants of Exeter, were
victimized by a 1 colayouth who pas
sed four forged Cheques for $10.00
each. The cheques were drawn on a
local bank; }rade out to -the young
Man -in question and were- supposed
to be signed by F. J. 'Wickwire. The
forgery was not discovered -until af-
ter a decrepepcy was • found in Mr.
Wickwire's. bank account. In the
nleantiine the youth had left town for
London. In passing the cheques the
young man made small purchases,
tendered the eliequ.es and secured the
change.
e Gflfard and Harvey McNeal, bro-
thers, who for several. weeks have
been. held in the Bruce. County Jail,
1 suspected by the police as the band-
its who held up the Brussels' branch
of the Bank of Nova Scotia in Hur-
on County on Oct. 29th last, were on
'Tuesday afternoon last removed to
Goderich jail acid they appeared be-
fore Magis. Reid in police count on
Wedresday horning and formally
charged with bank robbery' • while:
armed with offensive weapons. The
authorities claim they have sufficient
evidence that McNeill brother's are
the pair who held up the bank last
October, when a sum of $5,840.04
was stolen. They will receive their
next hearing on Dec. 10th.

concession, Stanley Township looked
out of the window the other morning
he saw two deer wandering in his
field.` They apparently had conte'.,

animals feed and they left the woods

At the Royal Winter•Fair, Toronto,
Tidy Pose's Johanna, purebred Hol-
stein cow, owned by W. Hume Clut-
ton, Colborne Tp,, was awarded 3rd
place in a class of 24 dry cows. The
two cows in first and second place
have in previous .years been awarded
the American title. This title being
given to the animal chgosen as beet
in its class in Canada and the United
States. Tidy was also chosen as the
best cow in Ontario for the Provinc-
ial herd in interprovincial competit-
ion. She was the first prize cow in
milk and senior reserve and resenve
grand champion at Western Fair,
London. :.
