Mr. Lever wishes to a ise the public that he will be on cinty 11 winter, and should any acciden ccur he will be right at your servic one No. 91, Clinton will get' hin is the request of the County Offi is that all accidents be reporte regardless as to amount of darnag sustained. Failure to report; any ac cidents with damage of $50 and ove will snake one }fable to a penalty no less than $10 and costs. We congratulate Mr. George J. Thiel in purchasing a new Baker windmill for pumping his water sup- ply. This old wheel had given serv- ice for several decades, as well as a lot of mechanical trouble off and on, and it there :sure were many citizens in town who were not in love with it, as the least little breeze on a quiet night, would disturb one's slumbers, and most of it are glad it has now served its time with the rather dist- urbing noise, while this new. machine runs as smooth one can hardly detect of its going. Mr. L. A. Prang & Son were the local dealers who installed the new Weill. • d d- A goodly number of Municipal Nominations were held throughout, the Province on Monday, and in case of elections they will take place on Monday next. It seems rather nice ' to have this annual reconing of the public's servants over with when the happy yuletide season is here, hue we think it must greatly conflict with the treasureez annualreports which t , usually run as near as possible with: c, I the colander year. All that a munic- ipality needs to hav this advanced c- nomination and election, is to pass d, a by-law to this effect, and then go e ahead with it. t An exciting runaway took place in Zurich one day last week, when the team of horses in charge of Del- bert Geiger, son of Roland Geiger, of the Bronson Line, Hay, ran away and made a wild dash through the vil- lage street on their way home. The team was standing on the hill at the grist mill and Delbert was in the act of loading some chop on the wagon when the horses took fright and st- arted for hone. The wagon hit a telephone pole near Mrs. C. Decker's house and part of the gear was bro- ken. The team got mixed upin a lum- ber pile at Kalbfleisch's null and were stopped. Considerable damage was done to the harness and wagon. An auto accident which might have proven more serious took place the other evening on the Zurich road, just east of the Babylon Line, when in some way while Mr. d'. Kippen of town was passing Mr. Lloyd McBride, their cars became entangled with the result that the damage exceeded the $100 mark, and the trait officer, Mr. Norman Lever of Clinton was called on the scene, and he reported that the McBride car carried no light on the rear end 'and had only one light on the front, hence the fault of the accident will 'likely rest upon him. Mr Lever also advised that near Goder- ich there was a wreck the other even- ing when two cars collided on the highway, and a third car coming a- long also piled into the other two. The driver of this third.car was pros- ecuted of reckless driving as there was a red light to signal the flange'; which he ignored and piled hi upey the wroekage. All motorists are war - to not pass a red light before ! rl akin sura: jite . *vat`t inane- • Not Observing Law That many motorists are not heed- ing recent amendments to the High- way Traffic Act, stipulating that ac- cidents in which the damage caused is over $50 must be reported, is the complaint of County Traffic Officer Norman Lever, of Clinton. He states prosecutions will henceforth follow where these accidents are not report- ed and that the $50 mentioned in the Act means the damage to both cars. In other words, where one auto is damaged to the extent of $30 and the other $20 the accident must be re- ported. The minimum penalty for failure to inform the authorities is $10 and costs.
