Rev,. and Mrs, Miller and son, of
Tupperville, were visitors at the
borne of Mr. Wm. Lamont last week.
Rev. and Mrs. Alberti.of Broilhag-
en were recent . visitors at the Luth-
eran Parsonage, 'Zurich.
Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Weido and da-
ughter Dorothy; were Sunday visitors
at Goderich.
A goodly number of the residents
of Hay Township have received their
1930 tax notices, and some are al-
ready paid.
The weatherman made quite a ch-
ange since a week ago, and over' the
week -end a. real cold blast was blow-
ing from the west with snow and ice.
But it is moderating up considerable.
Mr. W. G. Allen, provincial audit-
or, of Toronto, was -in the village on
Wednesday last auditing the township
accounts of receipts and expendlture:
on the township roads during 1929.
Dr. W. Schellog, of Detroit, called
in town on Thursday last. Closing
his summer hone at Grand Bend oc-
casioned the Doctor to come over,,
and then he also visited with friends
`for a day or so.
Mr. and Mrs. Theophile Bedard
and fatnily of near Tilbury, and who
have recently purchased the fine 150 -
acre farm of Mr. Oscar Kropp, have
arrived the latter part of the past
week, and are in a measure taking
posession, until Mr. Klopp can per-
manently vacate.
Mr. E. E. Weido motored to Sar-
nia on Wednesday afternoon,' and
1VIrs. Weido, who spent a pleasant we-
ek with friends at Yaie, Mich., return
ing• home with him. Earl -had plan-
ned to meet Mrs. Weido at Port
Huron but owing to the dense fog in
the afternoon the ferry boats did
not run, and Mrs. Weida was obliged
to take the train through the tunne
to Sarnia, and they sure had an ur.-
pleasant. drive: borne from Sarnia in
the fog.
A rattier interesting auto accident
occurred at the west end of town o1+
Saturday evening, when a little be
fore six o'clock, Mr. William Schrag
was coming into town with a Ioad of
gravel on the wagon, when in the
::winkle of an eye he was hit by e ear
,Thielewas beteg driven by Mr. Geo.
Regier, of the Goshen Line, south,.
Hay Township: Apparently both of
the vehicles were on the right hand
side of the road, but the car was coin-
ing at a lively clip, and was into the
rear of tile wagon before he had time
to swing to the left to pass, as at that
hour dusk has set in, and the visior
was not so clear. Constable Jul
Block was called on the scene and
Mr. N. Lever, the Traffic Officer of
Clinton was also called, and these
two officials investigated the case,
which will be heard before Magistrate
Reid at 'Goderich in the near future.
About nine hundred people were
served, and "well fed" at the Evang-
elical church sheds last Thursday
evening vncen that church celebrated
its annual fowl supper, and a rather
spicy urogram was rendered by the
Peerless Male Quartette of Listowell
with Mr. Savage, acting as the read-,
er, and who was the fun maker of
the evening. The latter part of the
program consisted of minstrels, and
amused the. large audience very much
with their eornic presentations. Or
Thursday e•verring of this week the
local Lutheran church are holding
their big- annual event, and we can
vouch that there will be an abund-
ance to eat, as the editor was invited
in this Wednesday morning and see
something like 150 big fat geese all
ready for the (Pressing; and then there
are a few that were not there as well
as a a couple dozen of chickens and
ducks: So don't e hesitate thinking
there is nothing to eat, for we know
better. Come early and avoid the
jam which may occur later in the ev-
ening, supper from 5 to 9 o'clock.
.A promising program will be render-
ed after the supper by local talent.
Galt Team Wins Championship
a
We notice that the Galt Baseball
team on Saturday won the final game
to decide the Ontario baseball champ-
ionship at Galt, winning the final
game from Creighton Mines, a north -
eels team, and a number of the local
fans listened" in on the radio as the
game was broadcast on Saturday. A
most familiar voice over the air was.
of the manager of the Galt teal::, lila.
Clayton Hoffman, who made a few
fitting remarks after the game was
won, and we congratulate Mr. Hoff-
man, as well as his brother Clarence,
who is a star player in the team. The
name of this team is Terriers, and we
think it is very appropriate, as they
livedup to their name all season by
winning most of their games. They
also are the first tears to win this
title for the third time, havingcaptu-
