An interesting session was held in the Zurich Town Hall, on Thursday last, when an inquest was held of the sudden death of Mrs. Henry McClin- chey, of Stanley Township was held, and who died some months ago. Cor- oner Dr: P. J. O'Dwyer of Zurich was in charge of the inquest, and Crown Attorney, D. Holmes of God- erich, examined the various witnes- ses. After all the witnesses were given a hearing, the jury brought out their verdict of death being caus- ed by heart failure. On Sunday, Mr. Wm. Brown and Mr. Harry Eickmeier motored to Lon- don, to visit Mrs. Eickineier, who is taking treatments at a hospital at that city. And while Mr. Brown and Mr. Eickmeier were in the southern part of the city they were stopped by a policeman, who boarded their car and immediateld advised Mr. Brown that they are rounding up a stolen car, and that he was to drive just as fast as he get through the traffic, which Mr, Brown did, and after chasing around fifty miles an '! hour for about three miles they fin-, ally pulled along side of the car, and, ; the "cop" lost no time in getting o over on the stolen car, and arrest, his man. Bylier, wno bring the gospel in song, will be at the local Mennonite church in Zurich, on Saturday evening of this week. The public is heartily in- vited to be present and hear these outstanding singers give their wond- erful message. Mr. Bylier will be re- membered by many in the community as he has been in Zurich on frequent 'occasions_ Rev. Morris W. Ehnes, General Foreign Missionary Secretary of the hlethodist church of the United Stat- es, gave a flying call to his Zurich friends on Friday last. Rev. Ehnes was accompanied by his brother, Mr. Orville Ehnes of Detroit. Rev. Mr. Ehnes, who is a very busy man in this great work of taking care of the finances of this big branch of work, and who travells a great deal, advis- es us that though we are complaining of, the drouth in our province, ne says we are indeed fortunate in the splen- did crops we are reaping, as in many of the most fertile central States there are practically no crops, every- thing is burning up for want of moist are and cooler weather.• Mr. L. C. Lipphardt of Everrett, Wash.., is visiting with his uncle, Mr. Sam Gottschalk. He will also visit with friends in Zurich, Elmira, Go- derich and Brussels. Mr. Lipphardt is a native of Ontario, going west forty years ago, but has visited here a number of times since then. He made the trip of 3,200 miles in twelve days by motor. Drought conditions in the mid -Western States are bad, Mr. Lipphardt reports. At one town the day he passed through, three car- loads of horses from the farms were sold at $6 each—Seaforth News. The Third Conference of Religious Educations .Assembly of the Evangel- ical church is being held in the Zion Evangelical church, Crediton this week, beginning on Tuesday evening and ending Thursday eve., when a- bout 100 delegates of the Conference are congregating for the extension of he cause. Taman, of Exeter, lost by one mark and wins the first for the Exeter Public School. John McTavish, son of Rev D. McTavish and Phylis Bierling, da- ughter of Councillor H. Bierling, Ex- eter North, won second and third money for the standing of local pup- ils of Exeter. The prizes are given by the Exeter Board of Education. Mrs. E. Blake Horner, who visited for a few weeks with her brother, Mr. Samuel Geiger, and sister, Mrs. Ed. McMurtie, of Seamans, Sask., re- turned to her home 14th, con, Hay, on Wednesday evening last. Mrs. Horner hal P. most pleasant trip, but we all regret very much that just a few days previous to her arrival at Seamans, a terrible hail storm' passed over that district, and what Iooked like a real good harvest with abund- ance of crops, was in a few minutes all shattered to practically nothing. Mrs. Me1Vlurtie, who lives on a farm had a large number of window panes broken ti bits from the hail which were like hen's eggs and larger. ger. Af- ter the storm some fields that had a good crop growing, looked as if they had been freshly cultivated, as even the ground was disturbed by the heav downfall o' fain. These unfor- tunate people who have not had a good crop for a few years, are in: deed to be sympathized with, as it indeed makes living conditions hard when a district is hard hit like this. Considerable new wheat has been marketed at the Zurich Flour Mills, Who are also buying for the wheaat pool, and the fist payment advanced on such pooled wheat is GO cents a 'bushel_ We sincerely trust that be- fore another. crop of wheat is harv- ested next year, that the price of wheat will be back to normal, as it will make conditions better for all concerned. Considerable comment is being made these days that regardless of the low price of wheat, the bread price still remains at 10c. a loaf or practically the saltie as when wheat was twice as high in price as when it was today. But probably the cost of flour is one of the small items of the baker of today, when the costly machinery, fuel and transportation are considered. But we do hope they will not try and substitute something in place of the good old pure wheat flour that we were raised on, end Iz 0 A 0 7 Your 1930 Goal NOW IS THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR TO PUT IN YOUR SNPPLY OF COAL FOR NEXT WINTER.
