Witmer, Mr. Ferdinand Haberer has had a large cement tank erected on his pre- mises for supplying water for his homeand also for use at the skating rink in the winter time. Mr. Harold Walker, teller of the local branch of the Bank of Montreal, is spending his summer vacation at his home at Walkerton, and in the Bruce Peninsular. Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Erb of the Bronson Line were recently on a motor trip to Carthage, N. York St. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Boshart of Baden. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. W. Taylor, Combu, Ont., announce the engage- ment of their daughter, Doris H. of Windsor, to Mr. Milton L. Hey, of Detroit, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hey, Jr., Zurich, the marriage to take place the middle of July. Commencing at 8 o'clock on Friday evening-, June 27th, the piano and vocal pupils of Miss EIizabeth Rennie L.L.C.M. will be heard in recital. The closing numbers will be given with two pianos and two organs, sixteen hands playing at one time. Those fishermen whose ambitions get the better of their judgment are reminded that the open season for bass extends from July 1st to Oct- ober 15th. During this time the legal limit is six per day the length.. being over ten inches. S. T. Friday evening, June 27th Is the date of the piauo and vocal recital which will be given in the Evangel- icaI church, commencing at 8 o'clock Miss Ida Routledge, reader will assist in the program. A real musical treat is in store for music lovers. Besides the readings by Miss Routledge and the vocal and piano solos, duets and trios there will be numbers given with 'two pianos, also two two pianos and two organs playing at one :time: - A very promising and interesting meeting of the Zurich Branch of the Women's Institute wiI1 be held in 'the local Town Hall, on Thursday af- ternoon, at 2 o'clock, when Miss V. Powell of Whitby, Ont., will address the Institute. Miss Powell is known by the local branch, having been in Zurich on previous occasions, and is well worthy of hearing. All ladies, are cordially invited whether a mem- ber or not, be 03re and attend, A tray suitable and entertaining pro- gram is also arranged. Come and enjoy this big afternoon. Bedard, of Stoney Pointe, Essex County, and late of the Blue Water Highway, HayTownship. Mr, Jacob Williams of Toronto, is visiting with his niece, Mrs. C. L. Smith, a few days this week. Mr. Ward Fritz made a business trip to Detroit and Windsor the beg inning of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Fowlie and Mr. Fow- lie of London, called on their sister, Mrs. G. Koehler, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. F. Braun and two sons of Forest visited over the week -end with relatives in town. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Weido and dau- ghter Dorothy were Sunday visitors with friends at Brucefield. Miss Alice Whiteside of Toronto is visiting with the Williams family of town at present. - Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Siebert and fancily of Detroit, were Sunday vis- itors at the home of his parents. Miss Helen Siebert remaining over for a while with her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Urban Pfile, Lydia Pfile, Miss Pearl Pfile, Mr. Rol- and Geiger, Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Jacobe, were Sunday visitors near Mildmay, where they attended the annual camp meeting of the Evangel- ical church. Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Magel and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Magel of Detroit, were Sunday visitors in town. The latter Mr. and Mrs. Magel intend to stay a month or so in Zurich, having taking up quarters in Miss Anna Hess' residence A goodly number of our local sportsmen are taking advantage of the suitable weather and enjoying the days playing golf at the spacious and up-to-date golf course owned by C. M. Walker & Son, at Grand Bend. Mr. Walker and son are to be con- gratulated on the fine course they have developed the past few years, and it sure is a haven of rest and re- creation to anyone enjoying this popular sport. The fine rains, followed by the warm weather the past week surely has made a wonderful growth, and we cannot help but say when we look in the country, surely Providence is wonderfully good, and we are living in a land of milk and honey. The summer crops are growing wonder• fully, and the hay crop promises to be good, some early fields are already cut and being harvested.
