The Cantata given by the choir in
the Evangelical church on Sunday
evening was a decided success.
A large crowd turned out and were
well pleased. Much credit is due to
the choir for rendering such a find
Cantata.
Mr. and Mrs. Shore and Miss Til-
lie li 1iex of -Woodbridge, spent a fete
days in .town.
Miss Myrta Taylor of London, is
visiting her brother Dr. and Mrs. Tay
lor.
Quite a number are attending Con-
ference in Zurich this week.
Mr. Henry Callfas spent the holi-
days in Thedford.
Mrs. Thomas and Miss S. Reid of
Goderich, Mr. Mac Brand, of Detroit
and Mr. J. W. Porter of Tiverton,
spent Sunday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. J. C. Reid.
Rev. and Mrs. John Oestreicher
of Ottawa Valley are visiting the for-
mer's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Oes-
treicher. Rev. Oestreicher occupied
the pulpit in the Evangelical church

ing herholidays at her home on the

on by St. Poniface church on Tues-
day' c t ,ing• was well .attended,, and
much interest manifested by all those
who attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hoffman of
Galt were Friday visitors with their
parents here. Mrs. Hoffman is stay-
ing the week over with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Siebert.
Dr. A. J. MacKinnon, wno spent
the past five weeks at New York city
taking a post graduate course, re-
turned to his hone i nZurich on
Saturday and has again taken op
his professional duties. The Doctor
has had a most beneficial and in-
structive course, which will be of
great value to his profession in the
future,
,VIr. J. Roger, cival engineer, who
was a recent visitor in the village, has
completed making a survey of Mr.
Gordon Turnbull's farm on the lake
shore, along the Blue Water High-
way, south of St. Joseph. Mr. Turn-
bull is having his farm sub -divided
into building lots and will offer them
for sale. Part of the farm is cover-
ed with shade trees and the location
is ideal for summer homes.
On Wednesday afternoon of this
week the official opening of the 66th
annual Conference will begin in the
Emanuel church Zurich,•when Bishop
S. P. Spreng, D.D. of Naperville, I11.
will be tibe Conference chairman and
will convene till the end of week. At
every evening there will be special
addresses by outstanding speakers
and also special music rendered. The
public is invited to attend as many
of the sessions as their time is avail-
able. On Sunday there will also be
services held in the ocal town hall,
and good programs of addresses and
music will be given.
A Bad Motor Accident
Four were seriously injured on
Saturday in a motor car when a car
drivetr by Mr. T. Laporte . of Detroit
and son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles,
Laporte, of the Blue Water Highway
near Drysdale, with four occupants,
collided with a motor truck driven by
E. A. Edwards, in Warwick Township
one mile west of Arkona. T. Laporte
suffered from laceration of the head;
Mrs. Irene Laporte from shock; their
six months' old baby was probably
fatally injured, and Miss Charmaine
received back injuries. The four in-
jured were taken to the office of Dr.
Walter Robinson at Arkona and later
conveyed by an ambulance Obtained
in Forest, to the Strathroy Hospital.
The party of Dctroiters were on their
their way from that city to spend the
Easter holidays in Zurich. The La-
porte car was proceeding toward
Arkona when the car collided with
the truck, which was roing to Forest.
