Donald, the ten -year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. d'as. Blair, Centralia, was kicked in the face while leading a horse to water. His nose wvas bro- ken and the skin torn off one side of nose and face and 'was otherwise cut and bruised. There passed away on Dec. 1.7th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. Pollock, Greenway, an old and much respected resident in the per- son of Mrs. John Allister. She was born in York County on June the 5th 1845 and left there at six years of age with her parents, brothers and sisters andcorning to McGillivray Township where she resided till the time of her marriage to John Allister In 1873 with their three children, they moved. to Stephen Township where they spent the remainder of their lives. Her husband predeceas- ed her 20 years ago and she spent the last 16 years with her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Pepper, of Tuckersmith, announce the engage- ment of their eldest daughter, Nettie, Mae, to George Wilmer McClinchey, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. George McClinchey, of Varna, the wedding to take place in January. The other night Tebbutt's Hard- ware store, Goderich, 'was broken in- to, but apparently nothing was taken Entrance was secured through three doors. In the first case a heavy pane of glass was broken and the next two doors, which were bolted, were forced. A few coppers which were in the cash register were not taken. There are people living over the store but did not hear the burglars. Mrs. Minnie Dawson, for the past 10 years editor and publisher: of the Parkhill Gazette, and one of the best known citizens of the town;. died from heart failure on New Year's morning. She was born in 13&9',and was a daughter of the late John R. Cameron, for many years editor of the Hamilton, Spectator, and who died 20 years ago. Clarence Jas. A BY-LAW to raise $20,000.00 to aid in the construction of tile, stone or timber drains. • The Council of the Municipality of the Township of Hay, pursuant to the provisions of The Tile Drainage Act, enacts as follows: 1. That the Reeve may borrow from time to time, subject to the pro- visions of this By-law, borrow 011 the credit of the Corporation of the said Municipality such sum not exceeding in th whole $20,000.00, as may be determined by the Council, and may in manner hereinafter provided, issue debentures for the said Corporation in such suns as the Council may deem proper for the amount so bor- rowed, with coupons attached as pro- vided in Section 5 of the said Act. 2. John Oldfield, one of the pioneers residents of Tuckersmith Tp., passed agay at his home in Egmondville, in his 79th year. He was born on the old homestead farm in Tuckersmith where all but a few months' of his life was lived.
