The large Huron County snow
plow passed through the village one
day recently. It was engaged in op-
ening up the Blue Water Highway;
and was attached to a large motor
truck. A second truck with w:ider
wings attached to shove out the
snow to; a greater distance, followed
the 'plow, and we are told that in
the more difficulty' places the both
trucks get behind the plow. We
however have not heard of it operat
ing this last week, as we think `" it
would require much effort to push
aside the piles of snow on the high-
way at present.
The annual Christmas entertainm-
ent of the Evengelical Sunday School
vas held on Christmas evening, on
Wednesday night, and the large aud-
itorium of• the spacious church was
nicely filled with those people, who
usually- attend this annual event.
The first part of the program was
a number of interesting recitations,
;riven by the kiddies, following by a
ery appropriate drill.. Following
the drill a pageant was rendered by
the various members of the School.
This, as well as the other numbers;
was very interesting, and much en-
joyed by all present. Those in , ch-
arge of this r: ork of preparing this
excellent program are to be congrat-
ulated on this, one of the best pro-
grams ever rendered.
Late Henry Deichert

short illness with a stroke. Deceas-
ed was born and raised in Zurich,
and although had left these parts a-
bout 40 years ago, yet he had many
warm friends in Zurich, who greatiy
mourn his departure. Deceased was
in his 63rd year and was the oldest
business man in New. Haven, Mich.
besides his widow, he leaves to mourn
his loss one son in Chicago; one sis-
ter, Mrs. 'Harry Yunblut` of Zurich;
four brothers, Nicholas and Edmund
of Detroit, and Jacob and John of
Zurich. The four brothers being
present at the funeral which was held
on Saturday at:New Haven cemetery.

where she intends to spend most of
the winter months with members of
her family.

accompanied by friends, spent Sun-
day last at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
E. Rennie.
Pleased to report that Mrs. William
Beaver, who has been in Seaforth
hospital for some weeks, receiving
rest and treatment that would fit her
for a throat operation, was able to
be brought home the first of last we-
ek. Owing to bad conditions of the
London Road, when Brucefield was
reached, the patient was changed
from the' car to the train to avoid the
rough shaking shaking she would
have received and it is hoped by her
many friends at Hensall and vicinity
that she may continue to gather
strength.
Mrs. Alvin Hoskins of Detroit, is
visiting at the home of her father,
Lawrence Heffernan.
Mrs. Lee Hedden of Hamilton, is
visiting friends in town and is also
assisting at the post office during
the holiday rush.
The last meeting of the local hydro
commission was held the other even-
ing. The commission have had some
trouble over not having enough pow-
er some times • for stoves during the
rush hours. The Iocal manager advis-
ed that if the transformer were step-
ped up it would be too high for the
hours when the load was off and
might do damage. A representative
from Toronto was in town and made
a check up of the system, and will
report to the Commission at Toron-
to. A cheque for $250 was paid over
to the town treasurer as a rebate on
the street lighting for 1928.
