Only Two more 'weeks and we are
into what should be the happiest "time
of all the year, namely Christmas.
We •think a great many people of this
district' will not appreciate Christmas
just as much -this year .as in for" "
:.
years owing+, to the: early -winter
we are having this year, and most of
us will be looking •more for spring
than Christmas. However, Iet one
and all observe the season in a very
suitable way, and bear in mind what
this Yuletide really has meat. to the
world these past centuries.
The local merchants of town are
now all set for the Christmas . trade;
and we do not know just when they
showed' such a fine showing' of real
Christmas goods, in fact for every
member of the family. No need of
making an uncomfortable trip to the
city for your shopping, when you
can buy at home and save doliars,l
and besides you keep; your home,
town on the map. ,
Over the week -end we experienced
some mere real'winter weather, with
occasionally - a little more snow fall-
ing. but the :air, Was not *+mite an

frequently as wellas the hum and

where it is inclined to be drifty, the
going is quite heavy.

Go Getters
This is an age of go-getters, of
efficiency experts, of speed in produc-
tion. We appland those who know
what they want, and go after it with
the skill, speed and pep that spells
success. Determination and hard
work are dot to be discounted; they.
are essential to, human progress. . If
we hope to win out in Iife's battle
we must use brain and brawn, ellim
inate waste and leakage; toil terribly
and desire desperately the goal we
-seek. ."Go • getters" reach the goal.
But some lovely things are not sec-
ured thus. We get them as a by
preduct.•- -Pleasure seeking disap-
points. It is the- world's. saddest bus-
iness in the end. Those who fix their
minds .On the hapiness of others; on
the improvement ,of mankind, find
happiness and glory , of character.
We get life' by, giving it away. Sel-
fish and greedy searches never find
rosy, fragrant life. Selfishness, avar-
ice and pleasure hunting are rank
-poison at the roots of life. The go-
getter after things, and fun alone.
and nothing worthier, gets death- He
who squanders life upon self loses it.
They who aim at self-improvement,.
duty, sacrifice, and service, find hap-
piness, an everenriching Iife and God.
If you merely .seek heaven to save
your soul, you may keep the path,
but will yon reach the goal. The
goal would be sought selfishly.' Serve
God because you love Him, and
heaven will be yours.
