The E.L.C.E. of Zurich are spon-
soring a steroscopical lecture on the
Holy Land by Rev. A. Clemens of
Centennial Evangelical Church, Strat
ford on Thursday evening, Nov. 7th,
Rev, A. Clemens visited the Holy
Land last summer and this lecture
promises to be both instructive and
interesting. Don't miss it! Ad-
mission 25c. and 10c.
During the heavy wind storm re-
cently one night, Mr. Robt. McBride,
Stanley Township, a few miles north
of town, was awakened by the bark-
ing of the dog. Upon investigating
the cause it was found that the straw
sta.ck at his barn had blown over and
buried one of his cows underneath it.
The cow was liberated after some
hours of work and the dog has the
credit of saving Mr. McBride the
life of the cow.
Mr. A. P. MeWhinney, Liberal can
didate in North Bruce, a member of
the last legislature and Liberal whip,
died at his home in Bruce township
on Tuesday last, with the election
only about twelve hours away. Mr.
MeWhinney had been a memuer of
the legislature since 1919 and wo-
uld probably have been re-elected on
Wednesday, had not the cold hand of
death been placed upon his body.
Our mailing list has been corrected

.And we would ask our many subscr-
ibers who have renewed their sub-
scription to the Herald, to see that
their label has been changed, and
that it reads as it should. The month
and year to which your paper is paid
is on the label, and we ask your co-
operation to have this right.

Have You Got Your Permit?
Thousands of travellers in the
woods, more than „ever before be-
cause the travel permit areas are be-
ing extended, will be accosted this
year with the question: "Have you
got your permit." The fire ranger
who asks you this question may or
may not be in uniform but you are
in doubt as to his authority he can
show you his badge. Why are you
asked to obtain a permit to travel the
woods that belong, you have heard
it repeatedly said, to the people of
Canada. Simply to assist your guar-
dians of the forests, 'who represent
