During the heavy wind storm re- cently one night, Mr. Robt. McBride, Stanley Township, a few miles north of town, was awakened by the bark- ing of the dog. Upon investigating the cause it was found that the straw sta.ck at his barn had blown over and buried one of his cows underneath it. The cow was liberated after some hours of work and the dog has the credit of saving Mr. McBride the life of the cow. Mr. A. P. MeWhinney, Liberal can didate in North Bruce, a member of the last legislature and Liberal whip, died at his home in Bruce township on Tuesday last, with the election only about twelve hours away.
