desire to advise the electors as to my
views on questions before us in the

The Province is to be congratu-

and fearless Premier in Hon. How-
ard Fergusson and to have associated
with him a strong and capable cab-
inet, in fact in the space of three
years they have succeeded in lifting

under control, and was taken out by
one of the local .garagemen, and for-
tunately no one was injured to any
extent, excepting some damage done
to the car.
That long looked for shower of,
rain visited .this part of Western Ont-
ario the beginning of the week, and
while at no time did it rain excessive-
ly, yet it kept on coming nice and
slowly for two days and two nights,
and the farmers are now at their
fall plowing with full force, and find
the condition of the soil in fine con-
dition for doing this work. The
rain was also badly needed for the
fall wheat and the grass. Some fields
of wheat looked very patchy owing
to the dry soil, it having not come up.
But we trust everything will now
come in fine before winter sets in.

Pertinent Thoughts
It is easier to unite with the
church than to follow- Christ. It is
easier to give than to love. It is
easier to profess than to possess and
practice. The serene, silent beauty
of a holy life is the most powerful
human influence in the world. Char-
acter is the only coin that will cir-
culate in both worlds. Heaven can-
not help the man who locks up his
religion in a formal creed but never
acts for God. Some people would
• rather argue about Christ's religion
Case & Son • than live it. Man is king or slave.
is conquering or being conquered
momentarily in life. He is either a
!pusher or pushed. To go forward
modern. To go straight is more im-
portant. fear no tomorrow if I do
my best to -day. Count that thing
loss that is gained by the sacrifice of
character. It isn't your position,but
your disposition that makes you hap-
pY or unhappy..

On Thursday eve. of .this week
will be celebrated the annual fowl
supper at St. Peter's Lutheran church
of Zurich, when large multitudes of
peoples will gather from practically
every direction of the -village, to par-
take of the bounteous meal that the
ladies of this live church are placing
before the public. This event is cel-
ebrated only once a year at this place
and the public should feel it their
duty to attend this outstanding social
event. After the "big feed" a fine
and humorous program will be run
off, which will make everybody laugh
and then laugh some more. Let us
meet you all there!
Death of Joseph Dowson
(The Herald, Whitewood, Sask.)
The death of Mr. Joseph Dowson
took place on Sunday morning, Sept.
29th, at the age of 75 years and 11
months. Deceased had enjoyed good
health until a year ago, and since

A week ago his condition became a-

Hydro Electric
The Ferguson Government has by
careful attention to Hydro Electric
development shown that it has stud-
ied the interests of our Agriculturist
and bear in mind agriculture is the
greatest natural resource in this part
of our province. By laying aside
$1,000,000. per year for rural Hydro
development the government has not
got this great resource in such finan-
condition that r .ral Hydro rote
an be reduced from $4.55 per month
to $2.50 per month, and financial as-
sistance given for installation. A
farmer can now have the benefits Hydroof
to light his building, run his
cream separator, pump, chopper,
washing machine and other household
machinery. Previous to the election
of the Ferguson Government no es-
eista-nce by way of bonus had been
given to develop Hydro on the farms.
The .Government has already handled
over $(3,000,000 for the assistance of
raral Hydro.
Liquor Control Act
In order that the electorate will
know mc -stand on the liquor question
I would advise the people of South
Huron that I am as good and prob-
ably better temperance man than mp
eppement or any person who may be
campaigning for him.
If I am honored by being your re-
presentative, I promise you my voice
will be heard in an effort to still fur-
ther the temperance cause. Ten years
under the 0.T.A. had developed the
curse of the bootlegger to such an
extent, that under the regime of three
different Alnornies it was found im-
possible to enforce the Act. You all
know the change that has taken place
in two and one half years under Gov-
ernment Control, the big bootlegger
has been eliminated and the small
bootlegger is at present being dealt
with, and the order is out, he must
go. Mr. Ferguson has kept faith
with the people of Ontario, by con-
trolling the Government sale of liq-
uor, by eliminating the poisoned
liquor of the boot legger, by contin-
ued all -year education agamsc the
improper use of liquor, ideal condit-
ions of real temperance may be real-
ized. The liquor Control Act be fur-
ther strengthened, and if you elect
me• as representative, ' it will be my
endeavour to further the cause of
real temperance.
Township School Board Bill
Much unfair and in fact untruth-
ful criticism of the Minister of Edu-
cation's proposed Bill has been spr-
ead through this constituency by de-
signing politicians. Now any school
boy looking at Township School
Board Bill will readily see that it
means nothing more and nothing less
than a bill to provide a school board
for a township, not one syllable re-
fers, to a consolidated school and the
Premier never has advocated consoli-
dated 8chools, he does believe that
one school board is preferable, but
it rest a intirely with the township,
nothing is compulsory with Premier
Ferguson and his School policy.
If elected, I shall enter into public
life determined to give the best that
in me lies, in the service of my fel:
low Citizen. No person of standing
expects anything also but that the
Ferguson Administration will be re-
turned to power. Knowing this,
would, it not be well to be represent-
ed bY a supporter of the Govern-
ment? In justice to herself, can
