spending a few holidays under the
parental roof.
Mrs. K: Cochrane and daughter
Miss Annie, have returned to their
home in Clinton, after spending a
few days with friends here.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Smith of Drum -
bo, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
J. Richardson. Mrs. Smith and dau-
ghter who have been spending a few
weeks there returned with him to
their new home.
Bean threshing in these parts are
now the order of the day.

Death of Miss Letitia Snell •
The community was shocked 'on
Tuesday morning to learn of the
sudden death of Miss Letitia Snell.
Miss Snell was stricken verysudden-
ly on Monday evening with a stroke
from which she passed peacefully a-
way without a struggle on Tuesday
morning. She reached the age of 68
years and 10. months and her whole
life has been spent in this commun-
ity, having lived with her sister, Mrs
D. Tiernan for the past 21 years. She
leaves to mourn her loss two sisters,
Mrs. D. Tieman and Mrs. Neeb and
three brothers, John of town, Will-
iam of the homestead and Charles of
Cavalier, N. Dak. The funeral was
held on Thursday afternoon in the
.Miss Alice Johnson is visiting fri-
ends in Kitchener.
Mrs. P. Koehler, who spent a short
time with friends in Port Huron, has
returned to her home here.
Messrs Will McAdams and Claire
Melick were Sunday visitors with fri-
ends in Crediton.
Mrs. Alf Smith has accompanied
her sister Mrs. F. E. Ashman to the
latter's home in St. Thomas.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. S. Johnston we-
re:recent visitors with friends in Tor-
onto.
A goodly number of the village at-
tended the Liberal Convention at Hen
sail on Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. M, E. Neil of Detroit
were recent visitors with the latter's

ter Miss Allemang on Sunday.
Miss Flossie Kleinstiver and friend
of Stratford, were Sunday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kleinstiver.
Miss Ruth Kleinstiver spent a few
days with her sister in Stratford last
week.
On Saturday the sewing circle mot-
ored to the home of Mrs. W. McEwen
(nee Nola Geiser) where a very plea-
sant afternoon was spent in games;
after which Mrs. McEwen served a
very dainty lunch.
Dr. and Mrs. Taylor left on
day on a motor trip to Toledo

Friday, spending the week -end with
friends at Kitchener.
Rev. and Mrs. Dreier attended the
general Missionary Convention of the
Evangelical church at Kitchener the
past week.
Rev. Fr. L. Power, and Mr. Chas.
Hagan motored to Parkhill on Mon-
day where Fr. Powes delivered a
very suitable sermon at the Fourty
Hours Devotion, at that place.

On Thursday evening, October the
17th, all roads lead to the Evangel-
ical Church, at 'Zurich where a fowl
Supper, second to none will be served
to a hungry company of people gath-
ering from far and near for a most
enjoyable occasion. Old time "Boys
and Girls" have written saying that
they are coming with bells on and
that no military army could halt them
The supper will be delicious/3r palat-
able. The program will be a vertable
tonic. The date is October 17th,1929
The place is, Evangelical Church pro-
perty, Zurich. The Harmonic male
Quartette and Concert Co., of. Listo-
wel are the entertainers, and they
sure bring thunderous applause
wherever they go.
J. M. Govenlock* Liberal Choice .
Mr. J. M. Govenlock, of Seaforth,
was chosen as Liberal standard-bear-
er for South Huron in the forthcom-
ing provincial election by a well at-
tended convention of the riding on
Tuesday afternoon at Hensall. Other
nominations made were: Dr. Shaw,
Clinton; Owen Geiger, Hensall and
R. R. Ross. A real rousing after me-
eting was held and the stalwarts of
the party left the convention with a,
good determination of winning the
riding of S. Huron for the Liberal
ranks.
