Mrs. Jacob Thiel of London, is vis- iting for the week at the home of her nephew, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Smith. Mi. Elmer Restemeyer of the Bron- son line, has taken over the fine farm the estate of his father, the late Mr. Edward Restemeyer, in Hay Town- ship. Mr. E. E. Wuerth, the new Ford Salesman has inaugurated the follow- ing sales the past week: Ford tour- ing to Mr. Larne Manson; Ford coach to John A. Mansonn, Ford coupe to Elzar Mousseau. Mrs. L. W. Hoffman, who accomp- anied Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Finkbeiner of Stratford, on a tourist trip to the Province of Quebec, returned the latter part of last week, and reports an ideal outing, having travelled a- bout 1700 miles by auto, and saw a great many sights well worth seeing, Mr. Sandy Elliot, that new and "full. of pep" Ford Agent with head- quarters at Exeter, has opened up a real service station in the Edighoffer garage at Zurich, and formerly oc- cupied by Mr. Fred Fairbairn, who is leaving town. Mr. Elliot has placed a good mechanic,, who has gone thr- ough the Ford's school, in charge of the mechanical end, while. Mr. E. E. Wuerth, who is well known in the vic- inity, will look after the salesmanship end. This is the 'first Ford dealer's service station in Zurich, and we wish them every success. Excellent fine harvest weather has prevailed the past month, and the farmers have completed their heavy 'hay crop, and a great many are noir busy cutting the fall wheat crop, which is proving a most wonderful crop also, and with ,present indicat ions the price will be good this fall for the same. It is indeed very pict- urequest to see these fields of golden grain, tall and well set sway in the gentle breezes, and sorry that the season is so short to have the eye partake of this beautiful sight. We notice the other summer grain coming along in proportion, and the bean crop, which is a big factor in this community, isindeed also looking of the very best. If the crops that look so promising, will be harvested- arc- cessfully, there is no reason tisk} this should be a bumper season, and net the farmers good and prosperoLls times, and then the rest of the coun- try will have corresponding. prosper- ity. Here's hoping! We are in receipt of the following communication, which will be inter- esting to many Zurich friends of the writer: Dear Mr. Smith: Inclosed find cheque for which amount you will kindly send me the Herald for another year. We are delighted to receive your weekly every Monday; it keeps us informed on many things and on what trans- pires here and there in your com- munity. It is like unto a weekly letter from the burg in which I lab- ored and lived for nearly twelve ye- ars. Taking this , opportunity to wish you continued success, and much prosperity to my host of friends in the village as well as surrounding district, I remain most cordially yours, Rev. H. Rembe. Evangelical Church Notes ZURICH — ONT. Thursday 7.30 --Prayer and Praise. We Call it Love. Present day people are joking with the deepest and holiest human em- otion and passion. The stage tosses it about as a rubber ball, but love is not a thing but divine, mighty, irrest- ible tide. It is the biggest, most powerful thing in the world, and when heads of families make it a toy or a joke it shows them up in the divorce court. A pretty face an at- tractive manner, physical charm and magnetism are easily taken for love. Love endures, suffers, is kind, not easily provoked, thinks up no evi]. Some socalled love of country is a mere selfish boast of wealth and pow- er nationally. We profoundly honor the memory of soldiers who fight the world's battles motivated by love, but often it is the lure of adventure, the thrill and blare of bugles, the rumble of drums and the rymic tramp of marching men. Love of country is also, expressed in times of peace, thru noble citizenship and lawabiding devoted conduct. It does not ex- haust itself in parades and hurrahs. So called love of God is often a mere fear or superstition. True rove of God spells obedience and . ,sacrifice gladly, joyously done. It is so gen- uine that it sends Livingstone to Africa and Savauarola to the flames -of >i lor'ence and Jesus to the cross of Calvary. SUNDAY SERVICES Worship 10 A. M. Rev. Nelson C.
