They have come! Highly colored
hats for men are here! Have you met
any of them? No longer are the yo-
ung men going to allow the girls to
monopolize. the bright colours, they
are going to share, at least in gay -
hued raiment. They have started
with hats, where it will end remains
to he seen. We may again see the
gay young cavalier appear in purple
velvet jacket with lace at the cuffs,
short and silk hose with buckled shoes

Mr. and Mrs. Goodbread and fam-
ily of Detroit were visitors at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. E. Axt.
Mt. and Mrs. Paul Jeffrey and fam-
ily of Detroit were week -end visitors
with; the former's mother, Mrs. C.
Ayotte.
Mr. Chas. Fritz is erecting a new
verandah in the front of his dwelling
property to replace the old one wh-
ich has served its time.
Messrs P. and F. Eisenbach of De-
troit and Mr. Elmer Willert, of the
14th con., were business visitors to
London, one day last week.
Mr. Jacob Williams of Toronto,
representative of the Carlton Press,
of that city spent a day's visit at the
home of his niece, Mrs. C. L. Smith.
Mr. and Mrs. Major of Toronto, -
were Sunday visitors at the latter's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Siebert
on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Rhineman Kalbfleisch
of Detroit, were week -end visitors at
the home of the former's parents, Mf i
and Mrs. F. C. Kalbfleisch.
Messrs, P, Eisenbuog, and F. Eis-
enbtick i Mro, Frank Eck, Master
Chas. Thomas and Miss Lizzie Eisen-
bach of Detroit were visitors at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Willert

The concert put on by the Young
People of Hensall in the Town Hall,
Zurich, on Mondday evening, was in
evary way a big success, and the at-
tenanee was large, and everybody
enjoyed the program very much.
While driving towards his home on
the Babylon Line, the other evening,
Mr. Joseph Foster had the experience
of being forced into the ditch by the
driver of a car who tried to pass him.
The occupants of Mr. Foster's car
were severely injured, one lady hav-
ing received severe bruises and a
fractured rib.
The new dwelling property being
erected by Mr. Ivan Kalbfleisch, at
the west end of town, is making rapid
strides, as the foundation is complet-
ed and warkmen are putting up the
framework for the lower story, which
will be veneered with brick, and when
completed will indeed be a very ad-
mirable home.
Mr. Harry G. Hess, our local and
popular electician recently attended a
meeting at Exeter in the interest of
the Safety First Campaign under the
auspices of the Hydro Power Comm-
ission. A meeting was also held in
the school house, 14th concession, to
discuss hydro electric service for that
section of the township. The meet-
ing was addressed by Mr. Bishop, en-
gineer, Toronto, and Mr. K. Lamp -
man, rural superintendent, Exeter. A
number of the farmers signed contr-
acts and it is likely that the service
will be extended from the town line
to the Zurich Road in the next twel-
ve months.
The new bake oven built for Mr.
Ev. Haist, our local baker, by Mr.
Harry March of Toronto is 'now com-
pleted, and an occasional fire is put
therein to dry the same. We are
told that this is one of the most mod-
ern and up-to-date ovens of its kind
in this part of Ontario. It required
approxmately as much brick and
mortar for its construction as what
is required to build an ordinary house
between two and thousand. The ov-
en has a capacity of 400 loaves of
bread at one baking, and the con-
sumption of fuel is so comparatively
small, that it is a very small item
the fuel bill. When Mr. Haist next
month gets located in his new quart-
ers and gets to thoroughly understand
this oven, we do not hesitate in say-
ing that he will turn out an article
that is unsurpasable in the vicinity
