ITEMS OF LOCAL INTEREST
Mr. G. R. Patterson, of Clinton,
who has held the position of Agric-
ultural Representative for. the Co-
unty of Huron. for the last two 'years,
is being transferred by the Depart-
ment of Agriculture to a similar pos-
ition in Peel county. It is under-
stoom that Mr. Paterson's successor
will be 1VIr. MacKay, who has been
his assistant in the work in this co-
unty for some time.
The Hydro -Electric Power Com-
mission of Ontario is as its title in-
dicates a provincial government un-
dertaking assocated with municipal
co-operation for generating and
transmitting' power on a wholesale
scale through the province. Its ag-
gregate peak load has reached a mil-
lion horsepower in 22 water -power
plants chiefly at Niagara. The main.
transmission lines extend over 4,000
miles. The capital invested is $300,-
000,000, and over 500,000 consum
ers are served.
APRIL ROD AND GUN
Vivid pictures of life in the Cana-
dian outdoors are contained in sev-
eral splendid sporting magazine, Rod
and Gun and Canadian Silver Fox
News. Among these is a robust st-
ory of the experiences of a trapper -
guide in British Columbia under the
caption "Life on the Frontier" by F.
D. Kibbee. Another entertaining st-
ory of actual experience on the trails
of far northern Ontario is contrib-

clude the usual special articles on sho
oting and fishing subjects by Bonny -
castle Dale, C. S. Landis, W. C. Mot-
ley, G. P. Sladen, J. W. Winson and
others. The Canadian Silver Fox
News department is full of unusual-
