Dr. A. J. MacKinno"n made a pro fessional trip to London on Friday. The Doctor was accompanied by Mr. Roy Lamont, of Stanley Township, who, in falling froni a horse recently sustained some injuries, and had an x-ray examination. We "hope that Mr. Lamont will soon be restorett to his usual geed health, The rathee dry weather the past few days has dried up the land and roads wonderful, and we are advised that a few farmers on the higher. and lighter soil have started spring seed- ing operations and a few fields are already sown, But we will require considerable warmer weather before: them will be much growth. and be- fore the heavy 'and low lands will be in condition to be worked up. Messrs. C. Fritz & Son, are ever on the move with the selling of their used cars, and during the pass week they have made the following sales: Wm.. Talbott, Stanley, good used Buick roadster; Jos. County Traffic Officer Mr. McDou- gall of Goderich, paid an official visit in town on Tuesday, and again re- minded the driving public that there are laws governing the driving of motor vehicles which must be ob- served for the safety for all. A truck laden with tiles was checked up and weighed and found carrying twice the amount of weight that the law all- ows, and this offender will probably be dealt with. I.le also warned some citizens who are not observing the Stop signs in going on or crossing the County highway. J.VI'r. C. O. Smith of the Blue Water Highway, just south of St. Joseph, advises us that one morning last we- ek he noticed four very unusual fine large. birds swimming on his pond of water opposite the road, and infer :further investigation round that these fine, snow white and magestie look - mg birds were white swans to their natural wild state, and upon appro- aching them they slowly rose from the water and flied towards the lake. Mr. Smith also advises us`that thorn have been hundreds of wild ducks, and al- so large numbers of wild geese found lodging on this little sheet of water this spring, as there was very little_ frost, these birds found a safe haven of rest for the night. If someone had the spirit and ambition of a Jack Miner and would make special effort to provide acconiodation and also put ample food there, this would indeed make a very interesting place. Rev. Evangelical Church Notes ZURICH -- ONT. The Church of Christ The ..church that is true to its char- ter must be like Christ its' founder in its corporate and individual life. Min- ister and layman alike must be char- acterized by his deep flowing regener- ating power. How truly do we qual- ify and measure up to the Bible st- andard of practical religion? There are cold- churches where men look in vain for sympathy and the spiritual touch of power. On the other hand there are churches where postor and people have a burning desire to bring help, joy and blessing to the needy, barren heart, thus helping them into a larger, richer diviner life, pattern- ed after that of Christ himself, The church must foster the good, the el- eVating and frown upon that which is evil or has danger in it. Her mis- sion is to purify, to enable, to beauti- fy and fortify the individual follow- er. Jesus said, Ye are the light of the World; Ye are the salt of the earth. Hence the church must lead out of darkness into light and out of sin into righteousness, The church must never sponser that which leads into sin and wrong. Ours is a great trust, so 'help us God to fulfill it in the fear. of God lest His curse rest upon us, Tuesday, 7.15 p. >n. -Jr. League, Thursday '7.30 --prayer and Praise.
