Farwell, our popular Massey -Harris implement agent: made a business trip to Kitchener during the past week. Mr. Farwell had a very promising looking standard bred colt which he conveyed to that city on an auto trailer, and for which he received a very attactive • sum of money. And while in that• city, Mr. Farwell, who is .always wide awake, looked. around and came across a very fine and admirable Jersey '•cow, which after Mi. Farwell found out could be Purchased, he soon becaame the purchaser of the cow, and he ad- vises us that this cow stands alone in its class in the community, both as in good appearance as well as in pro- ducing, as she has the fine record of producing 17 pounds of butter per week. And we feel pleased to prom- ise the consumers of Zurich, that af- ter the grass gets a little bigger and this wonderful cow gets "going good" that it will help greatly to bring down the price of butter in Zurich. BIRTHDAY PARTY A very happy event was. celebrated at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Foster, Babylon Line, when their chil- dren and neighbors gathered at their home on Monday evening last to cel- ebrate the birthday of Mr. Foster, The children presenting their father with an upholstered chair, and the address was . read •by. - his youngest daughter, Mrs. Jacob Battler and the presentation' by his oldest son, Mr. Louis Foster of Kitchener. Mr. Fos- ter then greatly thanked the children. for their loving kindness shown to- wards hint. Mr. H. H. Necb also sp- oke a few words of encouragement showing the high esteem in which Mr. Foster is held. The evening was sp- ent in a sociable way, a very dainty lunch was served, one of the main features was a beautiful birthday. cake which was decorated. with cand- les.: After the evening's program was completed, the happy gathering all returned to their respective homes greatly impressed with the evening's enjoyment. Our merchants are very +..usily en' gaged this week shipping out the dutch sett unions that they had kept stored during, the winter, and the quality of the onions looks fairly good. Mr. E. Oeselr, who has recently taken the agency of the Frigidore electris refridgeator, is taking instr- uctions at London, how to manipu- late and care for these wonderful machines, and will probably before long make a few sales of these very convenient accessories to the home. ' Mr. and Mrs. Hy. Truemner, Mrs. Wrn. S. Johnston, and Mr. Whitney Brokenshire motored to• Toronto the past week. Sorry that Mr. Truemner, has not been enjoying his usual good health for some months, and while in that city consulted a specialist, who made an x-ray survey of Mr. Truem- ner's stomach, and located the cause of his ailment. We trust that Mr. Truemner will soon be restored to his usual good health. Considerable excitement was creat- ed in the village on Sunday when, while Mr. John Hey, Jr., was hitching his high splinted driver to the buggy, in some way the animal became frigh- tened, and started through the stre- 14.4.+4++++++++++4.44,4,444,4,44,0 ets of Zurich with the buggy attach- ed. .} -The procession got along fairly good till it arrived on main street, and after narrowly escaping a car the fast oncoming steed. thought it saw. an opening between, Mr. John Deichert's coupe, and a shade treo near by. • But the space did not per- mit the buggy to pass through, and as a result the buggy was badly sma- shed as well as considerable damages done o Mr. Deichert's auto, and the anima,' at this time. became detached from the buggy, and ran to Mr. Fred Thiel's block where it was again cap- tured.
