and Convention at. Toronto this week
Miss V. V. SieLert, who spent sev-
eral weeks visiting, friends. at Detriot,
has returned to her home here, and
is getting in. a position for the spring
millinery season.
Mr. Orville: Witmer of the Babylon
Line, has taken a, position with Mr.
N. W. Trewarthac, of Clinton, in the
produce business:.
Mr. and: Mrs_ Albert Kalbfleisch
were Monday visitors at the home of
the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Kalbfleisch 15th Concession,
Hay. •
Mr. Freed. C. Kalbfleisch has given
his order to C. Fritz & Son, for a new
1Y2 tan truck, which Mr. Kalbfleisch
will use in his lumber business. Mr.
Henry Thiel of the village, has also
purchased a touring car from C.
Fritz & Son, which will be a great
convenience for Mr. Theil in getting
around in the summer.
Evangelistic Services are in pro-
gress at the Evangelical church, Zur:
ich,. The services being each even-
ing at 7.45 with a song service. The
ministers of the community are occu
pying the pulpit and on Thursday ev-
ening Rev. H. A. Kellerman P. E.
of Tavistock, will preach and conduct
quarterly Conference session. All
are welcome at any or all of these
services.
Messrs. Fairburn & Hudson of Hen
sall, have leased the garage from Mr.
A. G. Edighoffer, known as the for-
mer Commercial Hotel barns, and oc-
cupied' the past summer by Mr. Len-
nis O'Brein, as a general garage.
These two young men hail from Hen-
sall, and we wish them every success
in •their venture. It will be a little
while yet .before . they will be going
as their equipment has not yet arriv-
ed.
An interesting meeting is to take
place in the School House of No. 7
school, or konwn as Zurich school, on
Tuesday evening, March 19th, when
the ratepayers are being asked to
be present and give voice to their
sentiment of .whether they are in fav-
or of having the Township Sscooll sy-
stem come tinder one head or ha -c.,‘
school board in every section;. this is
however only to be •discussed, as a
representative will attend the big con
vention in Toronto where a feeling of
the people in general throughout the
province will be taken, and consider-
ed, before the Bill will be passed by
Parliament. Every ratepayer should
make it a point and be present at this
important meeting.
Another very interesting real estate
deal was transacted on Monday, when
Mr. Ev. IIaist, our popular baker,
purchased from Mr. John Gascho, the
dwelling property together with the
business block now occupied by Miss
Siebert as a millenery store, and Mr.
L. W. Hoffman, as a gents' furnishing
store. Mr. Heist intends converting
this block into a modern bake shop,
and will likely run a. confectionery in
connection, as well as display his pro-
ducts. This will make an ideal place
for this purpose. But it will take a
few months before it will be all set
up and put into shape for his pur-
poses. Mr. Gascho will likely put
up living quarters above his store,
which will also be a bib convenience.
