13y -Law was passed by the Council of
the Townships of Hay, on. the 5th day
of November, 1928, providing for the
issue of debentures to the amount of
$1791.00, for the purpose of paying
for the cost of telephone extensions
and that such By -Law was registered
in the Registry. Office for the Registry
Division of the County of Huron, 'at
Godexich, on the 31st day of Decem-
ber, 1928, as number 503.
Any motion to quash or . set aside
the same or any part thereof must
be made' within three months after
the first publication of this notice,
and cannot be made thereafter.

The Valentine Box Social. which
was held on Thursday eVening Febru-
ary l.•lth in the basement of the
church was a splendid success. The
first part of the meeting was a sing-
song, Miss Jean Ivison read an ad-
dition to the news of Hillsgreen which
was much enjoyed by, all. Contests
incl gimes farmed the second part of
the entertainment. After which the
boles were sold and everyone partook
of the good things. The proceeds a-
mounting to $10.00.
W. M. S. --The regular meeting of
the Women's Missionary Society was
held on Friday, Feb. 15th. The
Warld's Day of Prayer, The 'meeting
was opened with hymn .254. The Ap-
ostiles' Creed was than repeated. The
scripture lesson was Phil. 2nd, verses
1-15. Thee repeated the General con
-
i'ession, followed by the Lord's Pray-
er. The Sec-Trcas reports were read
and adopted: Roll was called and ans-
wered by the text •word, "Honor" The
business was then transacted, and
Mrs. R. Stephenson led in prayer, hy-
mn 463 was sung. Mrs. W. Turner
and Mrs. Carlile then gave prayers,
followed by hymn 374. The topic was
then taken from "Drums in the Dark-
ness" by Mrs. W. Jarrott, Mrs. R.
Stephenson and Mrs. W. Carlile. The
offering- was then taken. The text'
word for the March meeting is "re-
joice". Hymn 435 was then sang. The
meeting was closed by all repeating
the Benediction in unison.
Y. P. L. --The Young People's Le-
ague was held on Monday evening
Feb. 18th with Miss Annie Jarott's
group in charge •of -the meeting. Miss
Gladys Stephenson acting a' organist
and Mr. Connor in charge of the meet
ing. Hymn 541 opened the meeting.
Mr. Connor led in prayer, hymn 648
followed, the scripture lesson was re-
ad ices Isa. 5: 1-12. The devotional
part was taken by Miss Anna Love.
Mrs. W. Turner read - a bible story.
Were'then favored with a violin sel-
ection from W. Stephenson, accomp-
anied by Miss Gladys Stephenson. Mr
Apew then gave a splendid address.
Followed by prayers by Mrs. W.
Turner and Miss A. Jarrott. Mr. N.
Alexander then addressed the meet-
ing, followed by a violin selection by
W. Stephenson. the roll was then cal-
led and hymn 540 sung. The meeting
closed with the mizpay benediction in
unison.

absorbs our attention and devotion in
the Lenten Season, but who will have
us serve him no less faithfully in any
other season. l tis teaching and his
example doee not direct us to be ex-
tra good at certain times and extra
bad at other tines. Think of Him
whenevee strength fails you and hope
departs, and devotion toward God
sags, In Jesus we see bravery at its
best and courage at its climax. He
steadfastly sets his face toward Jer-
usalem, though He knows that He
will be scourged, spat upon, and kil-
led. Duty calls and He marches on.
