ZURICH — ONT.
V irtuous Stillness.
Mother boarded a streetcar with
Bobbie, who was everlastingly bob-
bing. He was so full of vitality,
self expression and perpetual motion
that there was no end to his sliding.,
wiggling, wobbling: It got so thoro-
ughly on mother's nerves that • the
verbal explosion; "For goodness sake
sit still,"' resulted. Perhaps this mo-
ther's command is worth passing on,
for we are the most hustling, bust-
ling, fussing people on earth. We
can't sit still. Indeed just a few days
ago a new Society was formed, the
members of which, the moment they
realize that they are where they are,
shall immediately get up and go else-
where. Perhaps it were good if God
took us one by one and set us down
hard, so we would stay "put". We
need to be still and commune and to
realize with Isiah of old that often
our strength is in our stillness. Tho-
se who exercise the wholesome and
the most powerful influence are those
who live o life of thotful, purposeful
constructive, creative stillness. God
our divine artist, requires our holy
stillness in order that' He may put
grace and comeliness into into our
character.
