Insurance Meeting
The annual ' meeting of the Hay
Township Mutual Fire Insurance Co-
mpany was held in the Town Hall,
Zurich, on Monday afternoon, and
this meeting was indeed very well re-
presented with policyholders from
near and far, showing the interest
the, farmers are taking in this well
known and reputoble company. In
a former issue we made mention of
the splendid standing financially that
this company is in,, and this was gone
over very ably by the Manager, Mr.
Henry Eilber, of Crediton. Consid-
erable discussion arose in the case of
Mr. Owen Geiger's barn that was bur
ned a year ago last fall, in which was
a large ' quantity of flax stored, and
the Compay thought they were not
liable for the full amount of the loss.
While Mr. Geiger held them respons-
ible for the full amount. The case
was then tried before a judge at the
High Court, Goderich, who after list-
ening to Mr, Geiger's evidences, ad-.
The annual meeting of the South
Huron Co-operative Company was
held at the Dominion Hotel, Zurich,
on Tuesday afternoon of this week,
and was fairly well attended. This
organization is carrying on quite an
extensive amount of business throu-
ghout the year, rnd shows great pro-
gressalong the line of activity. The
election of officers resulted as follows
President, E. F. Klopp; Vice -Pros.,
J. Laporte; Secy-Treas., Matt. Clark,
Hensall. ,
We are this week experiencing
real taste of winter weather, as there
is quite a fall of snow, and the auto
is almost linable to work its way
through the beautiful white. It is
rather unusual to see so much snow'
falling for this winter, but we are at
the end of the big winter month, nan
ely, January now and it will be only
seven more w::t s till spring by what
the cal.andei• says, and we ;presume it

i
vised that the parties interested try
and settle same out of court, this was
then done, and the local papers of
the community were sent an article
by the plaintiff side stating that jud-
gment had been given in their favor,
which Mr. Eilber proved was not cor-
rect, as the case was settled out of
court, and the judge gave no decision

and Stephen. Webb, Goldie Graham,
and Peter Marteni were the three
Directors elected, Mrs. Wm. Elliott,
the President for the past year re-
tiring. 'Mr. J. P. Rau, the vice-presi-
dent,
icepresi-dent, for the past year, was elected
president for 1929..
