of Stanley passed away at his home
in Exeter last week_ in the person of
Mr. Angus Murray, he was in his 76
year, and was born in Stanley where
he was well and "favorably known,
having spent most of his life here.
About 13- years ago he moved with
his family to Tuckerrsmith and about
a year ago he•and Mrs. Murray ret-
ired in Exeter. Besides his wife he
leaves a family of two sons and two
daughters:. Garnet of Usborne, Cecil
of Tuckersmith, Mrs. Robt. Talbot of
Edmonton and Mrs. W. MacEwen of
London and three sisters. Mrs. Geo.
Saunders of .Toronto; Mrs. W. Palm-
er of Hamilton, and Mrs. (Rev.) R.
Murray of. Chicago. The funeral was
held on Friday to `Bayfield cernetery

Mr. and Mrs. Percy Wiggins and
fainly left on Saturday last for Lan-
don, where they will snake their
home in future.
A very pleasant evening was spent
at the home of Mn and Mrs. Robt.
Higgins the other evening when a
number of friends of Mr. and Mrs.
;Bertram North, (formerly Flora Hig-
gins,) a bride of the past week, met
and held a miscellaneous shower in
her honour:
Owing to the great amount of sick-
ness in the village the Public School

Miss Mattie. Ellis Spent the holi-
days with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Small-

Flu is very prevalent in and around
Hensall, a large number of people
having contracted the epideniic, and
the local doctors are rushed off their
feet trying. to cope with the situat-
ion.
Mrs. Robert Green was taken to
the Hospital at London on Saturday
last and an operation performed up-
on her for an antrum trouble, and
her many friends are pleased to hear
that she is progressing veru favor-
ably. •
Mrs. Gibbs and daughter, late of
Ireland, but now of Toronto, are gu-
ests at the homes of Mr, and Mrs.
Robt. Bonthron; and daughter Mrs.
L. Simpson.
Hazel Coxworth of Essex spent the
holidays with her mother; Mrs. Co -
worth.
Harry Cook is confined to his bed
with an attack of pneumonia, but is
improving fovorably.
F. P. Warner of Pontiac, Mich.,
was a 'holiday guest at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. C. Jinks.
The funeral of the late George
Thompson, who died from pneumonia
on. Wednesday last in Toronto, took
place.' from. the Undertaking Parlors
of Bonthron & Drysdale on Saturday
last to Hensall Union Cemetery. He
was :a well: known resident of this vil-
Iage, but owing to the death of 'Mrs.'
Thompson, which took place a year
ago, he went to Toronto to reside
with his daughter. He had been in
poor health for some time which fin-
ally developed into pneumonia caus-
ing his death. He is survived by one
son, Will of Chicago, and one de-ti-
ghter,
aughter, 'Mrs Barrett of Toronto. Mr.
and Mrs. Barrett of Toronto accom-
panied the remains to Hensel.
As Mr. and Mrs. Bertram North
were. going from Hensall to their
home in Woodstock, on Tuesday aft
