Henry says that, Ontario has spent $161,'000,000 on. its roads, and of this amount no less than $150,000,000 has been spent during the last ten years. Some of it has certainly been well spent, and we .are at last learning how to build good roads. Our local fish distributor, Mr. 0. Xlopp, has been showing the people of the village some real attractive white fish and trout, which arebeing caught at Bayfield. We hear of the pioneers years ago .talking of catch- ing fish through the ice for Christmas and now we can have thein caught in the open water. One cannot help but realize that the winters are getting milder, with much less snow, probab- ly old mother nature is favoring this automobile age- with less snow and open reads in the winter, and we do admit that we have absolutely no ob- i jections. 1 evergseage 4;'e earn c r0330 seS O' 000000 0000049413000 SLI The Thoughtful Fanil:L,,:rj f HERE WE HAVE EV1 .RY SOI,hiD OF SLIPPER FOR EVERYBODY SLIPPERS FOR TINY FOLKS, TO 'THOSE IN WHICH FATHER READS HIS 'EVENING PAPER, ETC Women''s Felt Juli`.ets„ a splendid .Assortment of Calors. We do not recommend for the taxpayers to come out and :ee how much un- just criticism you can hurl upon your officials, but rather in an intelligent constructive and helpful way, 'get to- gether and discuss the most vital pro- blems of the day. If your officials do not measure tip to your expectat- ions and desires, why we are happy to say that we are• in afree country and should` appro iatc cur democracy by becoming a candidate yourself for such an office that you think you will 1 I.,x•4 11 a. list r;_ :Iiss Ri t x R tnuie, 'at'atbe.'rrrut x'isc u , .;Y_c. tall thw xw'teNay c the 14th eon., the past week. ............... Rumble of Thorndale, visited ers -in a real business way lust :what you would propose doing if elected. True enough our taxes if anything are always soaring a little higher, but one great factor in this is the local school question, and then as we are living in an automobile age, which de- mands better class o1' roads each year and better roads cost money, and these better roads cost a great deal of Money first to construct and then to maintain. So let's get together with the most practical and sane re- asoning and draw up a program. for 1929, that will by far exceed anyth- ing that we have had in the past. , • ®; Evangelical Church Notes 0 ZURICH - ONT. 0; Oi 0 Brown's Boal Shop • ?i**0+4.04.411004r41441ea tTte tee 4e00.00.0004.04140.00400.0444 • j m1.48101011 'QA WAN 'OUR THANKS AND AP,PREcL. Whatever cannot be entered upon in companionship with Gocl should never be undertaken. Live for something Do good, and leave behind you a trail of light and a legacy of ennobl- ing influence. . As we stand on the verge of a new year, let us quicken .our purposes and resolutions into liv- ing action lest they run into decay. Has your work and your life had a religious character? Was God seen everywhere therein? What was your attitude towards God? The only pos sible Godless creatures in God's univ- erse are devils and wicked men. The light from the twinkling stars does God's bidding, the winds blow at His coinluand, the birds carol as He tau- ght them, the flowers bloom and waft their fragrance in obedience to their maker. Is your life true and dutiful to Him whose imageg you bear? You have enjoyed God's good- ness and protection. Why -not seek His spiritual favor, enjoy His peace, live in harmony with Him and for His glory? Thus will the year 1929 be a bounding joyous triumph, Tuesday, 7.15 p. in. -Jr. League.
