and it seems unfair to have all this
at the pleasant and cheerful Yule-
tide season to have it disturbed with
municipal doings. We hear some
rumors that there will possibly be an
election for the reeveship for Hay
Township, with Mr. Owen Geiger of
Hensall? opposing Mr. Elmer Klopp,
who has so ably and efficiently con-
ducted this responsible office for the
last -number. of years.
USE CEDAR SHINGLES
The Evangelical League meeting
on Friday evening took the form of
a Congregational meeting to which
the entire cong,regation and others
were invited. The president of the
League, Mr. Newell Geiger, acted as
chairman. This meeting opened with
a hymn, followed by Miss Olive M.
O'Brein leading in prayer. Miss
Mildred Geiger then gave a splendid
piano solo which was greatly apprec-
iated. Another hymn was sung 'wh-
ich brought us to the main feature of
the program namely the debate,
"Resolved the World is Getting Bet-
ter" Mr. W. H. Edighoffer and Mr.
Josiah Geiger supported the 'affirm-
ative, while Mr. A. Melick .and Mr.
E. Gabel upheld the negative. This
debate proved very interesting as
both sides put up good arguments.
There was a very good tittendance
andthey were kept laughing all the
time by the debaters. While the
judges were making their decision
an offering was taken in interest of
the League. The Scripture Lesson,
Romans 12 was also read at this time
The judges, Messre J. E. Gesell°, W.
O'Brein and S. Greb then .brought iii
their reliort, the affirmative side win-
ning by one point. Everybody enjoy
ed this debate ,immensely and long
for another one, The meeting was
brought to a clae-by singing another
hymn and by prayer.
