The farmers of this section have
had a very busy week getting their
bead crop harvested. • Some fields
have suffered _considerably from the
wet weather earlier in the season,
while some fields are looking real
good. The weather the past week
has been ideal for the occasion, the
heavy fall of rain on Tuesday night
is welcome to a great many who are
engaged in sewing fall wheat, as the
soil had become very dry and hard.
Miss Gertrude Weber, who has
recently been employed in. a large
general store at Harrietsville, and
who returned to her home here ov-

Weber has had considerable exper-
ience in this line of work having
been engaged in the general store of
T. L. Wurni for a number of years,
and Miss Weber's many Zurich fri-
ends are indeed pleased to see her
back again in Zurich.

A most intereesting and enjoyable
hour was spent in Zurich, when im-
mediately after the evening church
services were dismissed, the rank
and file all marched to the spacious
lawn of Mr. J. Hey, Jr., where a
very appropriate program was run
off which just met the approval of
the large gathering. Reeve E. F.
Klopp,, acted as chairman, and did it
very nicely. The first speaker of
the evening vas Rev. W. Y. Dreier,
whos address was based mostly on
the hand of welcome extended to
Rev Mr. Turkheim, the newly induc-
• ted pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran
church. It was a line opportunity
• for Rev. Tuerkheim to meetthe peo-
ple of the community and he addres-
sed the large gathering with well
chosen words, and appreciated the
fine community spirit that is prev-
alent. The Jubilee Band gave a
good account of themselves and play
ed numerous sacred select! ons, .which
towards the last, were accompanied
by community singing. The church
choirs of the lutheran and Ev.ang-
elical churches also rendered suitable
selections. In fact we do not know
of any medium that could bring the
people of the community so well to-
gether, with such a fine spirit pre-
vailing. In fact, a few such occasions
could easily be hold during the sum-
mer months, and it would have a
tendancy to keep the, people at home
instead of going to .the lake summer
resorts for similar entertainments.
