During the mild weather , third
week, a number of farmers 'have
taken advantage and tapped the
maple trees, and are already bring-
ing the sweet product to town.
A -real old' time snow Storm
greetedthese parts last Friday,
and it'looked as if winter were
here . again to stay for some time,
but this was followed by real
mild weather on Monday and Tu-
esday, which ,mielted most of the
snow around 'town into ice, anri
as it, Earned colder again on Tu-
esday night, the town is now pr-
actically a mass of ice. The, roads
on Tuesday .on account of • the
thaw had become exceptionally
heavye almost impassable for the
auto. We are looking for the
roads to get quite bad this spring
when the %frost comes out; as we
have recently had so little , snow
hence there will be much frost in
the ground.
On returning heinae from Wind
or last week, Mr. Ward Fritz
rought along a" New Ford, as a

as been the talk of the automo

ow actually in Zurich, and looks

here in Zurich, for instance, is
here now nearly a year, and clue-

calls, one being about seven miles

village treasury received not a

report that not one call
was
made in the village during , this
time, and does it look fair or reas-
onable for these villages to
bear all this cost of maintenance
of such equipment to provide eq -
nal protection to the farming com-

whole burden. A great Menet of
intelligent farmers are thinking it
a real good thine, and we hope
the majority will °fallth line and
