John Lecher sold his driving
horse "Billie" to Mr. Cante log of
Clinton for $150 on Monday last.
He has however purchased another
from J. Torrance of Egrnoeidville.
During the severe thunder storm
of Friday morning, lightning
struck J. Decker's bank barn and
I in a few minutes was in flames.'
The live stock together with the
other valuable contents of the
stables were saved.. Owing to the
drenching rain anal the prompt as-
sistanee of the neighbors the other
outbuildings were saved. The barn!
which c'ontained all this seasons;
crop was soon a heap of smoulder-
ing ruins. The barn and contents ;
were insured in .Hay Mutual and
Mr. Decher's claims have been
promptly settled by the company.
Mr. D ei her will rebuild as soon as
possible.

Laird, teaforth, Jean Gallagher,
widow of the late Samuel Laird, at
the advanced age of 107 years 9
months and 23 years.
After an illness of a year or more
Mrs. William Gibbings, of Clinton,
flied on Tuesday morning of last
week, aged 52 years. The deceased
was a daughter of Mrs. S. Holmes,
who died a few wxeks ago.
John Spackman, of Exeter, has
disposed of Grand. Bend Park to
Wm. Levitt & Co., of Exeter. The
price paid was $4,000. Levitt & Co.
will make extensive improvements
to the park and will increase its
attractions.
Miss Clara J. Bisset, daughter of
Geo, Bisset, of Goderich, who has
been a nurse -in -training at the
Cornwall general hospital, has
graduated and has won the Hamil-
ton medial for general proficieney in
elass work. It is somewhat of a
