Itev. Father Valentine, Parish Priest 'd The Official Organ. of Zurich and Hay Township. ZURICH, ONT. FRIDAY, MAY 3.1901. THE jM ! H Y DOLLAR Spare the Birds, Nov~ that the birds are returning to us for the summer, we wish to say a word to the boys, some of whole are too fond of pules. The birds are very useful in killing in- sects which are injurious to vege- tation, and it is to the interest of all that they should not be destroy- ed or given away, to say nothing of the cruelty of killing them. It is unlawful to shootelestroy, catch, injure or attempt so to do, any wild or native bird other than hawks, crows, blackbirds and Eng- lish sparrows, and there is a fine (or, default of payment, imprison- ment) for violation of the law. Destruction of the nests of birds is prohibited also under the same penalties, We hope there will be no occasion to repeat this warning. Stanley Council.
