other special attractions such us
Rue de Nations, old Paris, the
Swiss„village etc, but I'll simply
say a few words about the Swiss
village. This covers considerable
area and is one of the most .animat-
ed and picturesque attractions of
the exhibition, a oerfeet reproduce
tion of ehallets from the different
parts of Switzerland set in appro-
priate surroundings, with cascades
rocks,. mountains and glaciers.
These challets are occupied by
Swiss girls in nation costumes, sell-
ing laces, wood -carvings and other
souvenirs. You can have a genuine
Swiss lunch for about 50 or 60a.
Britain and. her Colonies: The
exhibit of the various British Colo-
nies occupies a considerable space.
Ono of the most remarkable build-
ings of the British, Colonial ex-
hibition is the Indian Palace e.

Canadian section oceupies a large

building is not very handsome or

, HAY COUNCIL
Council met Oct. 6th. at 1 o'clock
all members present.
A report of F. W, Farneorab, re-
specting the East branch extension
of Ila;y- swamp drain was read, and
after considering it fully, was ad-
opted by the council and the clerk
was advised to prepare a by-law
accordingly for next meeting of
oouncil. A report of the engineer,
regarding the cleaning out of the
east and west branches of H. S. D.
was received by the oouncil, the
clerk was instructed to notify all
parties interested, that the report
will be read at the next meeting of
the council, Oct. 20th. inst.
J. Musseau gave notice to the
oouncil, to the effect that certain
portion of Black creek branch of
H. S. D. needed cleaning out badly,
the reeve, Mr. Consit and Mr. Batt-
ler were appointed a committee to
look into the matter and if necess-
ary, let the contracts for the -work.
Be -law No. '7, regarding the clean
in out of Zurich drain, was pro-
-visionally adopted and the clerk
was instructed to have the same
printed and served, or delivered in
accordance with Sec. 22 of the
Drainage act, and that a court of
revision he held en Saturday the
3rd, day ef Nov, at 10 o'clock a. m.
The clerk was advised to adver-
tise for tenders re the cle,aning out
of Zurich drain, tenders to be for
each lot separate, or for the whole
work. By-laws Nos. 4, 5 and 6
were duly passed.
The collector's bond was had be
fore the council and found satisfac-
tory.
