Hess Sr.., was re-elected trustee.. Mr. Hess has been trustee for eight terms in succession, or in all 24 yeaars;whieh speaks well for his ability in handl- ing the affairs of the section. The expenses of the section t this year amounted to nearly $1800 being a considerable inorease over former years, The building needed some repairs and a cement walk costing about $90.00 was laid down and other improvements made, which helped to swell the expenditure. The question of lowering the ceil- ings of the two junior rooms from 1(3 feet to 12 fent is contemplated and this change should be made as it would no doubt add to the com, fort of the scholars. SCHOOL CONCERT. The scboo concert, given by the children of the Zurich Public School, under the direction of the teachers, held in the Town Hall last Thursday even- ing was in every way a success The weather was delightful and as a result the large hall was crowded to the doors, in fact standing room was at a premium. It. is estimated that between six and seven hun- dred people wore present. To make special mention of each number of the lengthy programme prepared would make too long a report, but when we say that every number was faultlessly executed, and that the applause at each. drop of the curtain waas lond with approval, we but slightly convey the feeling of satisfaction and pleasure of the vast audience. Electric lights bad been installed along the front of the stage, and these added greatly to the effect of the various drills, etc.. The teachers, Mr. R. F. Stelck Misses Katherine Hart and Pearl Nicholson, may well feel proud of the complete success of the under- taking, which was by no means an easy matter, as much work and worry had to be gone through with in training the ;young folks The proceeds amounted to about $62 The various expenses will bring this amount down to about half, which will be used in purchasing new books for the library and other articles necessary to furnish a modern school room.
