1'he battle is on. The Dominion
etions will be held on Nov. 3rd,
rnmations taking place a week
lier,Oct. 27th. Neither political
ty has a candidate in the field
South Huron as yet, although a
number of names prominent in
political life in this riding have
been mentioned for the nomina-
tions. Any one of then would
make a worthy representative for
this constituency. We have heard
that Mr. Peter Lamont, present
Reeve of Hay Township, will let
his name go before the Liberal
Convention to be held in Henson
next Tuesday. A more popular
and capable man could not be
chosen and we have no doubt if
Mr. Lamont does happen to get the
convention, South Huron will re-
main title to Laurier and a larger
Canada.

CHAS. FRITZ
of few who have more right to the
good things the party have to dis- -
pence. That Mr. K. will discharge
this important duty, faithfully and
impartially, we have no doubt.
Intellieence has been received of
the accidental death of Rev. Samuel
Acheson, minister of the Presby-
terian ohurch, Towner. N. D., late
of St. Andrew's church, Kippen. It
appears that•Mr. Acheson was look-
ing over a new manse, which was
being built for him at Westhope,
when the temporary stairway sud-
denly gave way, preeiptating the
'Clergyman into the cellar below.
The fall so injured his skull that
Mr. Acheson died a few hours later.
He leaves a widow, two sons and
two'daughters.
The question of putting in'a cis -
'tern which would give entire satis-
faction and which would be easily
aeoessibie for cleaning purposes,
has long been a troublesome thing.
Mr. Philip Hauch, whose new dwel-
ling is rapidly nearing completion,
is having a large galvanized tank
put in the basement by Mr. C.
Hartieib, into which the evetrough
will be lead. The tank is made of
heavy galvanized iron and will hold
a large supply of water. When
empty it can be readily turned on
its side and cleaned out. Mr.
Hauch will certainly have a good
substantial cistern.
It is our sad duty this week to
chronicle the death of Mrs. Mary
Zettel, relict of the late Joseph
Zettel, at the age of 61 years. The
deceased had been suffering for
some time from consumption of the
throat and had been failing very
rapidly the last few weeks and on
Saturday morning death relieved
her suffering. Her husband pre-
deceased her about two years ago.
Mrs. Zettel was of a kindly dispoe
sition and was respected by all who
knew her. She leaves four sons
and four daughters, all grown upe
to mourn her loss. They have the
sympathy of the community in
their sad bereavement The funer-
al was held on Tuesday morning,
the remains being interred in the
Catholic cemetery in town.
